Re: Power Steering Pump

Happy to report that you can get a replacement recon pump from ACS at Tamworth for £114, though you also get £25 back on your old pump.

If its a petrol engine you just need to swap the brackets over to fit it.

Sorted!

Ps thanks for the offer multsi.

Re: Power steering issue ??

Is it the rack that's creaking at the front of the van or the pump which is at the rear?

If the noise gets louder when you're doing tight manoeuvres like parking then it may be the pump.

Power Steering Pump

Does anyone know if, apart from the bracket, there is any difference between the diesel and petrol versions of the power steering pump? Diesel version is easy to find on the web from several outlets including Amazon (£127 for a new one) and ebay (£85 new) at a reasonable price but the only specifica...

Power steering pump servicing

Hi, Does anyone have experience of servicing a power steering pump (petrol engine)? If so was it straightforward and/or successful? Mine's starting to sound like someone's squeezing Chewbacca's nuts in a vice when turning tight corners. A re-manufactured unit is £300 but I notice I can get VW power ...

Power steering fluid replacement

Hi, I had an advisory this week that the power steering filter and fluid could do with replacing. There's no mention of this topic in Haynes and I can't afford a Bentley manual, but is this a straightforward drain and refill or is there some bleeding involved? Would welcome comment from anyone with ...

Re: Will I shear the head stud?

I chickened out in the end but I did add some K-seal to the rad which worked OK for a few months.

Mine doesn't lose water as fast as you say yours is though.

Good luck

Re: Corroded Calipers

Thanks chaps.

Looks like regular maintenance and a wire brush will see me through for now but I might have a project coming on in the longer term. Bit worried about getting them off the van though; the rusty fixing bolts don't look like they're going to cooperate in a hurry.

Cheers

Corroded Calipers

Ever since I bought my 25-year old van I’ve worried about the brakes. There’s nothing obviously wrong with them, they work fine and I’ve just checked the wear on the pads and disks today. Last year I put new SS hoses on all round and the rigid pipes are sound. But there’s still the nagging fact that...

Re: Will I shear the head stud?

Cheers mate, that's kind of you. I'll PM you, but no rush as I won't be doing the job for a while yet.

Thanks Ian and Kev too. Now just a matter of plucking up courage to put a big wrench on that nut and undoing it.

Will I shear the head stud?

Among the many jobs saved up for this winter I have to cure a coolant leak, emanating from under one of the cylinder head nuts on my 2.1 DJ. It’s only a tiny seep of water which hardly affects the level in the expansion tank but its causing a build up of residue all over my nice SS exhaust where it ...

Re: Fuse to Leisure Battery

The fridge shouldn't really be running off the leisure battery. It's better if it's wired direct to the main (turnover) battery, protected by a relay so that it can't run unless the engine is fired up and generating leccy. As to the fuse, that varies depending on the fridge model. Look on Club Stuff...

Re: Joining two sheets of ply edge-on

There's no need to join the ply. If you bed it down properly on a sheet of 10mm insulation foam and screw it down evenly with self tapping screws you wont have any problem. Put the join under the cooker unit or the rock and roll and you wont even see it.
