Re: Help 1.6D

White smoke is usually unburnt fuel when glow plugs aren't getting upto temp/working. If you bump it do you get the white smoke too for a little while? Does it still fire up instantly when hot? Starts fine when hot, didn't notice any white smoke when I bumped it, but that's because I was concentrat...

Help 1.6D

Hi, 1.6D will not start! It's run sweet as a nut for 2 years, then recently it became very reluctant to fire up, took ages to get going and chucked out a massive cloud of dirty white smoke for a few seconds when It finally caught, and then it would run sweetly. Fires up instantly when hot. I changed...

Rear Seats

Hi,
I have a Westfalia 'Mosaik' Joker. My wife finds the rear seat uncomfortable on longer trips as the back rest is quite short.

The seat is quite a basic design, I'm not even sure if it's the original one.

Does anyone have an aftermarket bed fitted? if so how tall is the back rest?

Thanks

Re: split charger relay function

Whilst my control panel doesn't look like either of those, the information is probably similar in some respects. Am I right from reading the CF9 guide that the mains hook up will not charge the 'starter' battery at all even when the charger is enabled? I inadvertantly ran the 12v off the van battery...

Was it new springs all round, or just at the front...?

Re: Is it wrong to go pop top?

What I have in my Van looks very similar to that of Lances pics. With the canvas in place I can't really get any better shots. We're away next week camping, so I'll have a look and try to post some pics up next weekend when we're back of anything that looks different. I had seen that some people hav...

Re: Is it wrong to go pop top?

Mr Hulley is quite correct and sadly theres no may in it. It can be made to fit, the proper way is to get the steel roof, drill out all the spot welds and weld the roof pressing in place. Otherwise you have to bodge it. As you can see in the pics below there is a flat recess, that the frame and the ...

Re: split charger relay function

Interesting, I'm a bit new to the ZIG unit thing. The writing on the panel is faded, the top row of switches seem to control what's running off 12v, then there's a switch with a pic of a caravan, other pic isn't clear - do you think that determines which battery the 12v is runing off? Don't want to ...

Re: fitted fridge - have a question about venting.

There's a decent enough gap around the back of the fridge unti to let the warm air escape - not vent at the front, but there is a gap where a vent probaby used to live. The firdge got very cold when I ran it on Gas at the wekend for the day, so I'm not too worried. I did notice that there was a bit ...

fitted fridge - have a question about venting.

Hi, Just had a replacement fridge (RM4180/81 - whichever is the gas version) fitted into my Mosaik Westy Joker. Been reading a lot of posts about vents etc (which I unbderstood to be for airflow/cooling only) The van had a gas fridge before and didn't have these vents, just the flue. I still don't h...

Re: alternative fridge

We have replaced ours with the RM4181 (or 4180 - whichever is the Piezo electric for running on gas). It fits in the gap, but will require modification of the cabinet - ours isn't a factory westy so there were no qualms around chopping down the surround and building a new one. Works very well. Each ...
