Re: Overheating!
Is the rad leaking? sounds like it had air trapped in the system to me after he changed the stat, if the heater went cold. make sure its properly bled before changing the rad. BUt if the rad does leak, £120 with labour etc sounds good to me.

Re: After market fuel pressure regulators - Subaru
I fitted a nice aftermarket one, was much cheaper than replacing the suspect stock one. You'll need the correct adaptor for the hose to fit to the fuel rail, where the stock one goes.mine works fine. just avoid the cheap ebay ones.

Re: Rear wheel bearing carriers
Hmm. I,ve also had this problem. lots of vertical play but no horizontal. My mot had an advisory for this one year, I just left it and next year no advisory?and I hadn't done a thing! when I did check it the bearing carriers were fine, bearings a nice tight fit etc. I even measured the internal bore ...

Re: T25 Subaru turbo = project begins
6 speed. yea why not. How much longer than the 5 is it though? there's not much room up front behind the crossmember. I would say about 20mm or so. so you might have to break out the cutting discs!

Re: T25 Subaru turbo = project begins
If your in no rush, then I can probably help. I,ve got some bits already,ie drive shaft flanges . the pinion depth tool etc . so you wouldn't need a complete kit. You might want to wait a bit to see if the exchange rate improves a bit though!! as Todd ships the stuff really quickly anyway.

Hello Domino. Re Brakes. Ive got a KIT from EPYTEC.de that uses passat "ate57" calipers and allows you to use the big passat discs(312mm I think). They work great in my bus and I guess I've got similar power to you? . My gearbox only let go as I did a crappy gear shift and put my foot down ...

Re: BOD - 1.6TD JX - In over my head!
As Dave Friday said. They are Stretch bolts so can only be used once! so you'll need some more. So just take one big and one main bearing apart to give you an idea as to the state of the rest . You can then see what the bearings look like and measure them with a Micrometer as they will have a wear l...

Re: BOD - 1.6TD JX - In over my head!
would you feel any movement if the big end bearing are shot, just by trying to feel any movement by hand? I've rebuilt a couple of dg/dj engines and even with 150k miles the big end bearings have not shown any wear at all. would be very odd to be worn if the engines only done 40K?.

Re: BOD - 1.6TD JX - In over my head!
Have you got a torque wrench? when you take the big end bearings apart, you'll need one to put them back together. also make sure you give the sump gasket mounting face a really good clean, scrape of any old crud /sealant. In case you dont know, the big end bearings are just two halfs of metal(bronze ...

Hello and welcome Bruv. you might want to post this in the mechanical section too. I hardly ever look in the electrical section as I haven't a clue about electrics!

Don't mount it directly to the chassis/bodywork. I've used tension springs to mount mine. but you can use rubber mounts too.

Re: Stainless steel exhaust system
not only that 316 cracks easily. so I guess with the heat/cooling of an exhaust it doesnt take long for the cracks to start. I made an exhaust myself from 316 so I speak from experience. I lost count of how many times I had to weld cracks up again.
