JX water pump replacement

Hi Guys, As the title suggests, I've got a leaky water pump which needs replacing. Anyone got any tips or experiences that I might find helpful? Obviously it's going to involve draining the cooling system, I've never done that either so I'd be glad to hear any advice on that too. Anything else I sho...

I like a bit of Danish oil, which I have used on several DIY projects :ok

Fortunately if you're only doing the door cards there shouldn't be too much bending.

Re: Which varnish for plywood?

Do I need to thin the varnish before I apply it and if so, what should I use? Thanks  I just put mine on as it came out of the tin. I used it to seal the ply before covering, but if you are looking for a good wood finish then you probably want to do several coats with a sand back with fine sa...

Re: Which varnish for plywood?

Yacht varnish is good and also resistant to moisture, which is useful on the back of the door cards.

Re: Leaking water pump JX

Water pump is fairly easy. off with the alternator off with the three hoses at the back 3 or 4 13mm bolts on top and one that goes through cam cover, bit fiddly to get pump out especially with power steering. Mine was leaking through the pulley first time but about a year later i had a leak from th...

Leaking water pump JX

Hi guys, It appears I have a leaking water pump. (Falling coolant level and a puddle under the location of the water pump). I looked on the wiki, but I couldn't seem to find anything about jx pumps. Is this fairly easy to replace and if so has anyone got any hints or tips I should be aware of and id...

Seals may not be seated properly.
Windscreen washer jets not sealing.
Is it a high top?

Re: Oil leak - jx td

Worth checking that the oil cooler is tight enough. Although it is sandwiched between the oil filter and the block they are held on by a nut which goes on before the oil filter. Mine had worked loose and was causing a leak.

Re: Vacation then hammerite ?

I would say yes to the Hammerite, I have used it with good results. Now though, I have a big tin of (matching VW L90D - Pastel white) Rustoluem, so I use that. Not sure how much "better" it is at protecting metal against rust, but at it says on the tin it's good  and it's the correc...

Re: heater motor replacement

Thanks for all the help guys, it has not gone too badly, only sheared one bolt and everything now works. However on reconnecting the dashboard instrument pod, all the switches work but I've got no lights for indicator, oil, battery, high beam, and the fuel and temp gauges are not registering anythi...
