Re: Using lots of oil but no leaks
Are you overfilling with oil? 4.5L is recommended with filter change, some say a little less. Dipsticks can be way out, with 4.5L in it was below the minimum level on mine.

Re: New immobiliser. Issue with wiring..cannot fathom why
To eliminate that area of doubt you could always run a temporary permanent live straight from the battery just to see if it cures the problem

Re: New immobiliser. Issue with wiring..cannot fathom why
Possibly. Have you tested to see if the permanent live is actually live whilst cranking the engine over?

Re: old triumph 500
Sounds like a bit of crud is stopping the float valve from shutting off properly.

Re: No hot air blowing! Out of things to try?
Check the pipes aren't squashed where they are strapped to the chassis too, that problem stopped my heater working.

Re: Cooling issues
How much anti-freeze did you add to the water? Over 40% and the cooling properties are reduced so your engine will run hotter

JX alternator/water pump belt issue
As standard it looks like there should be 1 belt that runs from the crank pulley to the waterpump, than another that runs from the waterpump to the alternator. Mine has just 1 that is fitted so it goes around both at once, and I see lots of JX's with the same arrangement. My question is can this cau...

If the LDA is knackered you wont get proper boost. All that wedging the thing open will do is increase the fuelling

Re: Tidying up metal bumpers - what's best?
I rang Halfords to enquire about that truck bed paint but it seems they don't sell it anymore. I'd like to protect a new bumper before fitting it as the paint on it is so thin its already worn off in places

Re: Jx glow plug query
From what you have posted it looks like the glow plugs are working as they should AFAIK. If you went to the pub at lunchtime on one of the hottest days of the year & then tried to start to come home after an hour or 2 I doubt very much if your glowplugs would come into play. I know mine wouldn't.

Re: Jx glow plug query
When its very hot weather I don't get the glowplugs heating but I thought that was normal. Are they supposed to heat up regardless?
