Re: Correct plugs and leads for a CU?

Hi Guys, After some advice on the correct plugs and leads for a 2.0 CU engine. I ordered new sparkplugs from JK but when i went to fit them the connector are too big for my leads. I compared to my old plugs and they are indeed larger, although both old and new plugs are Bosch W7CC? The leads are al...

Re: Correct plugs and leads for a CU?

Ok having thought about this i realised i can remove the end of the connector and my leads will fit  Also having looked at the old spark plug they are the same as my new plugs but the one that i thought was a different size i think has been time sert'd and the insert has come out with the plug...

Correct plugs and leads for a CU?

Hi Guys, After some advice on the correct plugs and leads for a 2.0 CU engine. I suspect i may have been running the wrong plugs and/or leads. I'm just going through the process of replacing my carbs so thought at the same time i'd tidy my tinware, do pushrod tube seals, oil cooler seals, and a good...

Re: Is my engine allergic to oil?

I'll measure when I'm back from the beach :D

In convinced it's the oil level causing the problems > add oil = runs like bag of spanners, drain some oil = runs fine.

Will be interesting finding the cause!

Re: Is my engine allergic to oil?

Well I dropped about a pint out and i'm in Bath! Dipstick is showing just under the first mark again.

Van running well and idling now but my oil light comes on at low revs/idle. Reluctant to put any more in but don't want to ignor the light!

Is my engine allergic to oil?

Prepping for a trip down to Newquay last night so checked the oil and was low on the dipstick (below the bottom line) so i added about a pint which bought it to about half way between the 2 lines. Didn't test it last night but this morning engine is now reluctant to start, won't idle and power is on...

T25 friendly garage in newquay

Hi Guys,

I'm attempting my longest (by some way) trip down to Newquay next week. I don't anticipate any problems (do we ever?!) but it would be good to have the name of a garage in the area in case i don't make it all the way and need the services of RAC.

Any suggestions?

Re: Fitting a Speedshop exhaust to Aircooled T25

I used a Suzuki GSXR SRAD 1998 bolted straight on to an empi header. Paint the header before it rusts on you though for a cleaner look :|

Had to persuade it under the valance though but no cutting needed.

Re: Hi Top or Pop Top?

Depends on your needs. Pop top gives you the benefit of getting under some (!) barriers and car parks, head room when camping and an extra bed/storage when camping. However bear in mind that space is not accessible with the roof down, is something else to setup when on site, some can be heavy to put...

Re: air cooled and water cooled comparisons

No idea about mph, the fuel guage is a bit erratic, but I'd be happy with 25. You use your fuel gauge to judge MPH? :run I'm also in the CU club. I chose Aircooled as i had come from owning beetles and never had an water cooled car before so felt i knew the engine more then if i'd gone for ...

Re: engine mounting replacement help

Hi Guys, I'm doing exactly this job on my 2.0 CU engine. I had a look this weekend and can't see how you access the mount bolts where they attach to the engine (on top of the mounts). I could barely reach my hand around to feel the top of the mounts. What do i need to remove to get access? Looked li...

Re: cu. wont climb hills

Mine doesn't like hills and will go down to about 30mph if the hill's long enough.

Just thought that was the nature of the beast!

Re: calcium battery - any good for the van

With my recent starting problems (turned out to be alternator connection came loose in engine bay  ) my starting and leisure batteries were at about 11.5v and van started fine. Guessing it was low as they hadn't been getting any charge throughout the week. Batteries read 13.8 with engine runni...
