Re: Manual fan switch

As Ringo said, I did this with my van & it's very easy to do. However, it doesn't solve overheating problems & may make things worse in the long run. I've had to face the music & am having the head gasket replaced.

Re: Over heating

I've had a similar problem with my 1.7 d engine & have had it confirmed this morning that the head gasket needs replacing :(

1.7 diesel cooling problem

I was driving up the M1 towards Nottingham this morning when my van started overheating. I limped towards Donnington services & the temperature needle then stopped working. When I stopped she was steaming & boiling, I let her cool down & topped her up before slowly heading into Nottingha...

Blowing hot air

My heater is blowing hot air all the time, even when set to cool flow & it's getting mighty hot in the cab. The cooling system seems ok, so is it problem with the heater itself?

roof light leak

This horrible rain has caused the roof light on my hightop to spring a leak. I've re-sealed it all around with mastic, but I'm still getting a drip in the front right-hand corner. Any suggestions on how I can trace and fix this or should I just fit a new one?

curtain runners

Hi. I have an '88 hi top with metal curtain tracks, but I don't have enough of the little white runners that attach to the curtains, leaving me with droopy curtains all round. Does anyone know where I can get hold of some of the little blighters?

Any suggestions as to what might be causing this? As I seem to be scratching my head now having gone through all I can think of.

All this was done when new head and gasket fitted. The needle sits just to the right of the led generally, on hills it'll creep up, on steep hills she seems to get really hot (past 3/4 on temp gauge) before fan kicks in. Should I be worried or is this about normal?

I failed to mention it's a 2 speed fan. Does this make any difference?

Fitting manual switch to cooling fan

Hi. I'm a new member and pleased to have joined Club 80-90. I have an 88 1.7 diesel hi-top. I recently had the head replaced and she seems to be running hotter then she did before (about half way). The fan wasn't kicking in so I tested it, changed the senser, bled the system etc. Now the fan kicks i...
