Re: 1990 Singlecab II
So after a bit of trial and error I've managed to calibrate it to a reasonable accuracy by adjusting the spring. Mine was under reading by increasing amounts the faster I went. So I loosened the spring, turning it anticlockwise initially by about 15degrees by eye. That got me closer, accurate at 30m...

Re: 1990 Singlecab II
No, it’s variable unfortunately. 30 = 50 40 = 70 Did you ever get the spring adjusted Martin?  I stripped my speedo recently to fix the odometer. I thought I had done alright with getting the needle back on in the right place as it was accurate up to 30mph but then gradually under reads, at 50 it r...

Re: 3d printing
For anyone who doesn't have access to a 3d printer but wants prints of STL files from the likes of thingiverse.com I can recommend performanceplasticz@gmail.com - send the STL, address and quantity required for a quote. His responses are very fast and he gets the parts out quickly. As a guide, I or...

Re: Westfalia Atlantic heater
I think the other fuse is for the fridge. Is it the original 3way in the van? The deisel heater in westys is notorious for not starting due to the length of run of cable from under cab seat to under r&r seat where heater is. Big draw for glow plug causes voltage drop which causes eber to abort s...

Re: 1.8T Wiring/Fault Codes
I'd never thought of chipping an engine to reduce power, great idea. Even a simple 95% limit would take the max torque down to 190nm. I'm not doing big miles at the minute but if we do get to the point of bigger continental trips it would be a bit of comfort to know the torque is being kept below 20...

Re: 1.8T Wiring/Fault Codes
it’s geared for a diesel so feel sometimes like I’m labouring the AGU a bit and asking it to pull from too lowdown in the rev range. I think that's a Syncro on big tyres thing, my 2.1 wbx is the same. I find myself having to consciously hold onto each gear for 6 or 700rpm past where the natural cha...

Yes thanks for sharing the pics, really nice to see. Sorry we couldn't make it. Eimear had been shortlisted to participate in the Galway Film Festival pitching competition, which sadly took priority over SP. It was a tough weekend of practicing the pitch and keeping the baby entertained in wet and w...

Definitely not a thing to be desired! Thanks for sharing the pics, it really does make a difference imho. Who knows , I might just make it next year! Ditto. The pictures are greatly appreciated. Re: Tin top to Pop Top v High Top pros and Cons
As Steve says, for a camper the practicalities of a high top far out weigh the limitations. You can park up and get the kettle on while standing up without having to set up a pop top or crouch over. Particularly handy when just stopping for lunch or to break up long drive. Loads of fixed storage, cu...
