[Non-VW] VW wheels on a Toyota

Apologies for not really being a VW question, but I hope some of the experts here might be able to offer advice... I've recently acquired a "shed" Toyota Corolla (1991) that I intend to use as a daily driver, with the only requirement being that everything be as cheap as possible. (and I m...

Re: Ply roof lining

Here are some finished pics (though it's always a work in progress). The roof isn't covered and the battens aren't hidden, I like the wood finish. http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-OXhYsK5tb9U/UNc25dh2X3I/AAAAAAAAAXw/EhJLp1wawDk/s512/23122012021.jpg http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gu7MS4J05tQ/UNc2...

They slide on from the rear and clip into place.

Re: engine help converting from ac to wc

As for fitting an Aircooled motor into a watercooled van, it should be a five minute job. The Aircooled motors are self-contained units, just need to hook-up power and fuel. yeah just like a porsche engine goes straight in the fact that the cooling will not fit the sidewalls of the van there will b...

Re: engine help converting from ac to wc

Converting from ac to wc is a lot of work tbh. Air cooled engines are cheaper to maintain and less to go wrong and theres a lot more of them around - should be able to get yours sorted for sensible price unlike the costs of fixing a Wasser or going diesel. MM Does anybody go the other way? - I mean...

Re: ac with late rear vents

Mine, '82, has plastic vents, Dad's (Sarran1955), '79, has metal vents. Both Aircooled, CTs.

Metal vents look nicer, in my opinion.

Re: What Size Jack Recommended Please?

If it's a workshop jack, get the biggest you can afford, it's not just a question of weight. Bigger jacks are more stable, more solidly built to resist sideways forces, quicker and easier to use and just generally safer. If something to keep in the van, then the above comments on lifting height appl...

Re: 2.0 Aircooled barrel / head seals

HELP !!! Just dropped engine and removed one head from my T25 trying to find a running problem.I have found no seals between barrels and head, would this be due to a bad rebuild somewhere along the line or do some engines not have them ( ie. face-fit )? There are signs of "blow-by" on bot...

Re: electronic ignition conversion

If your engine is stock, then you already have electronic (hall effect) ignition.

The coil is different for electronic and mechanical (points) ignition.

009 is a distributor, not a coil and is not the correct fitment for a van engine, it will work, but there are far better options.

Re: Daft Question

Well, anything can be made to work with enough engineering... Easiest way to do it would be to take the engine and box from a front engined, front wheel drive car with a longitudinal engine/gearbox arrangement, for example a Renault 21 or 25, fit in the way VW intended and invert the differential in...

Have a look at the front seat "boxes", there might be enough room to let something small in there?

Re: Rear Fogs

Just for info, my van (early, base spec, French) has no fog lights whatsoever, no switch, no wiring and no terminals in the lights. So it's possible one of your rear lights was replaced at some stage.
