Re: Do I have a blown head gasket?
Hi Oldie, yes I think the hot spots and uneven heat distribution might be showing a lack of flow. I meant to say heat not "even", meaning lack of flow. When I bleed from the top of the rad there is a short hiss of air then cold water spurts out. this is after the engine gets up to 57 degre...

Re: Do I have a blown head gasket?
I already had the catastrophe. The van van overheated whilst moving house and the pressure blew a pipe off. I tried to use a thermal imager thisafternoon to see what was going on. It seems the heat in the pipes is not even suggesting lack of flow. Which pipe goes direct to the blower - is it the sma...

Do I have a blown head gasket?
Hi, I'm fearing the worst as my 1.7 KY may have head gasket issues. The engined coolant light flashes and sometimes I get heat from the vents sometimes not. The rad takes ages to get hot as if there is no coolant circulation. Mate at work thinks it might just be a simple think like the water pump? I...

I love my hardtop, as both kids can sleep up there and provides extra storage space.

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!
Hi, covkid and thanks. I followed the DVD I got from you a while back. I found that using acetone thinners left overnight went on slightly better. I painted at 8am due to my van looking like a giant leaf for the afternoon bugs to sit on. Up close it's not perfect as I needed to roll over black ferta...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!
Great technique. One coat down two to go, here are the results. :D Used mixed with white spirit on the front, mixed with thinners left overnight on the rest. http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad118/pmoc_2001/CIMG3147.jpg http://i927.photobucket.com/albums/ad118/pmoc_2001/CIMG3176.jpg http://i927.ph...

Re: Rust advice required
Hi, I was in your boat 3 years ago. Only just started painting. I had a lot of fun and tears doing mine. I had zip experience, just a lot of determination. Oh and I get Friday afternoons off - the only enemy is time and weather. https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=85759" oncli...

Re: 1700 diesel engine
Love this thread! I have a KY too. From my memory during my research 2.5 years ago  they were put in by the Germans so that the delivery/post vans they were installed into were more reliable. I have come to think of the engine as a generator connected to a camper van. I never did get round to ...

Re: leaking lots of water out of my 1700 diesel,Glasgow
Hi,
Did you have much trouble replacing this. I fear I have a similar leak on the one just behind the exhaust manifold. Once out I guess its a clean up with a rag and then hit the new one in with a rubber hammer. Did you use any sealant?
Cheers

Re: Charging leisure battery with hook up
Oh dear! seems like someone have removed your BBB charger and used the space for a 'PROPEX' ? heater.....but then that begs the question of: has the original Ebberspacher heater also been removed (externally mounted under the sliding door step). And That clear sperpex box to the left of the heater....
