Re: More economical welding gas

Another thumbs up for Hobbyweld.  Was gobsmacked when I found we had an agent right here in sleepy little ol' Dunoon! :D

Re: Leisuredrive pop top

just been to check Vinnie - I was wrong, all 4 struts are the same.
Marking on them is NitroLift GS10-22-190-240-150.

Hope that helps.  Suggest you still need to send them pics & measurements of the end fittings.

Re: Leisuredrive pop top

I got new struts for our leisuredrive side-opener a few years ago from SGS. Have looked back to try and find the order details but can't.  If you search their website for 'leisure' you'll get 2 different leisuredrive struts, I'm pretty sure you need 2off each strut. I had a right faff getting them t...

Re: Leisuredrive side lifting pop top gas?struts

yes SGS, we got 4 struts for our side lifting Leisuredrive about 3 years ago. I recall it took a couple of goes to get them with the right end fittings. Make sure you've got a strap of some sort to compress them about an inch while fitting :ok

Clutch master cylinder- broken feed spigot

Anyone else have a clutch master cylinder fail by the plastic spigot (the one that takes the pipe from the reservoir above) snapping off? Had one master cylinder (approx 2 years old) fail by the plastic spigot breaking off, but managed to repair it by bonding a brass spigot in. That gave up after a ...

Re: Breahable Van covers?

Vinnie came with a JK cover but we never used it until this winter when he was undergoing surgery. It meant he could live outdoors with cab doors and sliding door removed while wings & panels were removed & repaired. I was sceptical but the cover was fantastic, kept him dry inside, kept bare...

Re: Overheating that's not really overheating...

i spent over a year chasing a similar thing on our Mazda 323f. Temp gauge would suddenly go to max but never any signs she was actually overheating. Other electrical use (eg using the electric windows) suddenly brought the gauge back down. To cut a long story short, it was a failed engine block eart...

Re: B-Pillar Repair

Looks like there's a bit of a Scottish B post thing going on at the moment, you me & RogetT. And us in Dunoon! Finished the offside B post/wing/sill/floor/cab step/ most other stuff (!) on Friday, moved to the nearside yesterday. As before, Vinnie has done his usual trick of lulling me into a f...

Recommendations for a new interior - West Scotland

Hi. Well the o/s/f wing repair has kinda snowballed! B-post knackered, jacking point gone, inner sill has big holes, so does the floor. So no choice but to remove the flooring, fridge & all units to get access from inside. The metalwork repairs are progressing (thanks mainly to all the pics &...

O/S/F wing & seat mount repair advice please

So before I splash the cash at Brickwerks, can I just check I’ve got the right idea here! Drivers side front arch is gone all round the filler plus evidence of numerous patch repairs before, cab step is gone, and the seat belt mount panel is thin but even worse is that the panel beneath the outer se...

The shut line along my tailgate top is large ,widening even more towards the centre.very obvious from my upstairs window !seems to me vw quality was lacking . Designed on Friday afternoon maybe ! Exactly that!! Am sure ours is a larger gap in the middle. Have wondered if that gap is growing due to ...

Re: Does minimum emissions = maximum efficiency?

Ok, so the emissions test is purely relative to the setting of the engine at idle? Once the revs rise and the main jet is in use we're into a different set of parameters being involved? That I can understand. Will check the points you mentioned. Most I've replaced recently but doesn't mean they stil...

Re: Cooling fan

Ignition switch in the run position, remove the wiring plug from the temp switch on the radiator, bridge the terminals in the plug. There's a thread on here somewhere that gives you the colours of the terminal to bridge, there's a common live, then a contact each for the low & high speed circuit...
