ok.. so i bit the bullet and went out to get myself a replacement alternator.. so all good on that side now... the down side is i still need to get the 4 allen bolts off the Harmonic balancer. as per previous posts.. the heads have now rounded.. tried hammering a spline into them to free them and di...

does anyone have... or can anyone point me in the direction of a diagram for the piping for an 1.9 tdi intercooler set up... (which pipes go to where etc)

i 've not taken the water pump pulley off...

i've just swapped the whole waterpump over..

forgive me for not being fully in the know about the names of things (still learning) so googled it.. lol is there an easy way to get them off.. as from what i can see... they're held in by 4 allen bolts and the 19mm bolt that i am trying to remove.. or would this prove to be more work than good.. i...

Me old engine had a new alternator, and the pulley wheels from my old engine are different to the new one so was just gonna swap the pulley wheels over so I didn't need to get a new alternator that would fit the same belt...

can someone tell me if a special tool is required to remove the niut in the centre of this? or will a socket head do the trick?

cool.. thanks for that :) just followed your link and ordered some blanking plates now.. my sis, been to pick up new sprigot bearing and bolts so clutch can go back on tonight.. (hope she got the right ones) and 4 stubborn allen bolts ot remove then pretty much ready to re-fit the engine.. yey thank...

now thats really thrown me... as i dont recall an electrical connector on mine..

i'll have another look tonight whern i finish work.. i'm guessing a couple of blanking plates will be easy enough to knock up?

by blanking it off, would i then not need the valve that it goes to? so i could get rid of that be completely??

can anybody tell me what this pipe is?



and where could i pick up another.. more flexible version and a bit longer?

Thank you, as you can tell I'm new to all this tinkering lark... But if I don't do it myself, I'll never learn...


Another question, how hard is it to set the timing, as I'll replace the timing belt, and can it be done with the engine out or does it need to be in situ??
