Re: Broke down in Italy and towed back!

Hi everyone! I tried to change the glow plugs, removed the old ones without problems and start putting in the new ones. When I tried to screw in the first one, a piece of metal broke out from the head! Basically, half of the threaded metal where you screw in the plug broke! I did not use any force (...

Broke down in Italy and towed back!

Hi all! I don't know you all here since I usually post in the syncro section. My name is Lefteris, from Greece, but leaving in the Netherlands. After fixing cv joints, springs, etc. I decided to drive my van form Greece to Netherlands, only to have a major engine break down in Italy. The van is now ...

If the trailing arms are 16" then the mounting point of the shock absorber will be unevenly higher, compare to 14" which is dead center.

Re: Syncro identification help, 16" with some 14" or all 16" ?

Looking forward to seeing this develop. Your Doka has the standard front driveshafts which is a bonus as the thicker ones provided for 16" van with front lock are very hard to find If ever needed. Also you have the CV boot protectors on ( the rubber part has long since gone ) Lefteris has a 16...

Syncro Front CV Boot Protectors dimensions and shape

Hi all, I am refurbishing the front cv boot protectors. Metal parts have been blasted and powder coated and I found a strong piece of rubber that looks the same as the old one (also it was expensive, 30 euro for half a meter...) Do any of you have the shape and dimensions to cut the rubber to the or...

Re: 16" drums max measurement

I am confused, are you asking about diameter or thickness?

For new discs the thickness is 16mm and the wear limit 13-14mm

Re: Help me identify parts of my engine

thanks Aidan,

so the blow-off valve is ok then, nothing missing there:)

As for the turbo cooling pipe, I have that one, although the bracket was broken so I removed it. If I ever take out the engine I will try to revive that one.

Thaks for the info!

Help me identify parts of my engine

Hi all, sorry for my ignorance, but I am still novice:) I removed the air filter of my diesel turbo 1.6 jx engine. I saw two components that I am not sure what they do. First is this one. It looks "lonely". There is no cable or hose connected there. Am I missing something? Which component ...

ajsimmo wrote:The bit of gasket you should see sticking out behind the pump has the notches or holes on it. It's like that so you can see it before removal of the head. When you do it, don't have the head skimmed! VW were very clear about that in their workshop bumph.

top tip! thank you very much:)
