Re: Wonderful Tirfor

They seem to be a very versatile piece of kit. I fancy one for the Syncro and felling awkward trees that need "loading" to drop them. Apparently the big disadvantage comes when you have to cover some distance. ( According to Tom Shepperd expedition driving Guru) Like a hundred yard mud hol...

Re: This is the life...

Always tomorrow it seems. Well glad that there are a few other dreamers out there. I am trying to make it a reality, but never quite get there. My van is mothballed again and still not upto a long trip. Hopefully I will get time to work on it soon and head for the horizon with my family in tow. Mean...

Re: Sika Syncro............Uncle Sam Style

Only more reliable, less cramped, quieter, better on fuel and not in need of constant maintenance ! Your right there is a gap in the market for a forward control. I have been driving a hilux for the past few days towing my big trailer and thinking how good it was. The Syncro supposedly is not up to ...

Re: Earth Straps

Thanks Guys. We are moving house at the moment, so it is chaos, and van not starting is a PITA. I've still got a non Tdi starter which has had one rebuild, so am looking to upgrade it with adapter when it shuffles off. So I'll look for and clean the gearbox strap and see if I can add another direct ...

Earth Straps

Hi Guys - I seem to have an earthing problem and my van won't start. Symptoms : Get the solenoid click, and occasionally it will turn over half a turn slowly. Jump leads don't help, same effect. But a jump lead from gearbox to towbar (earth) and she fires straight up :D So what earth straps are supp...

Re: Which way to go?............

Well if it was me I'd go for a a pre 96 2l Subaru lump and LPG. The older Subaru engines didn't have the floating liner, so head gaskets don't cook every 5 minutes. My 1Z Tdi drives nicely, and has plenty of torque, but I have killed one gearbox already. According to Aiden he has a queue TDi convers...

Well done Paul ! Glad to hear some progress. They look great to me. Might have to up my order to 2 :D There have been a few strange contraptions come up on ebay lately, and I have been getting a itchy trigger finger (how I ended up with a syncro in the first place !) But these look great. I have bee...
