Re: Replacing the stereo

Thanks for that - the problem seems though that linking the +12v wires also does nothing - to the point where the red light stops flashing even. To clarify here - there seems to be three 12v inputs of sorts: 1 called just '12v', one called '12v battery' and one called '12v ignition wire' http://www....

Re: Replacing the stereo

I'm having some problems with a stereo install too. I have an 82 Aircooled and thought it might be nice to have a nice modern VW Headunit in there. I opted for a Beta V unit and am now at sea with the install. The basic problem is hard to diagnose as the unit appears to be taking power but not takin...

We got our '82 Westy registered in London with no need to trailer it, or convert the speedo. The 'inspection' they gave it to gain registration was cursory - basically a bloke came out to the carpark, got out a clipboard and ticked a box that said 'Big Green VW Van' and gave it it's deserved 'X-Reg'...

I've been meaning to ask about this too. Our westy seats are in fair condition but the passenger one is losing all it's horsehair and there's a none-to-comfy spring jutting out a bit. Ideally I'd love to find somewhere that can keep the cover (Which is worth saving and matches all curtains etc) and ...

Three simple questions on an '82 Westy LPG conversion

We have lovable-but-thirsty 2.0 1982 air-cooled Westy. We also have a £1600 cheque from an insurance company for our little eurobox that was just written off after a botched theft attempt. Sooo..... Here are a few simple LPG questions if anyone can oblige - the idea being we can get her out more wit...

Erm - I don't recall the exact price as I was in such rapture to get it to go in but with a guess of about 40p a litre (this b...

Hey y'all it wasn't full - but £7.69 later it finally is. Thank goodness. I went along to the same garage today armed with both my adapters and - would you believe it - the pump was out of service haha. Returned home, googled a bit and found there is another one vaguely nearby in Southgate (thank go...

Thanks for this idea - I guess I just thought it would naturally be empty but now you're putting ideas in my head and I'll have to go check tonight and report back. I'm sure I'd have noticed wouldn't i? *Wouldn't I?*

I'll feel a right charlie if it's full won't I!

Yes it is the same as yours Simon - and yes - all the rubber seals seem to be correct. I'm inclined to give it one more shot - perhaps trying again with the pair of Gasure bayonnets I got first as the pump itself seems to have a different attachment now and there's always the idea of using the pump ...

Can anyone tell me what I could be doing wrong. [westy lpg]

It's a simple problem: I simply *cannot* get LPG into our Westy's tank. My first attempt (see an older thread) did not work as the adapter loosened when attaching the bayonnet fitting and gas just escaped. Now I've got a sturdier looking thing and had a good feeling about it—but going back to...

Yep, Westy lesuire battery under the drivers seat and engine battery under the passenger seat (LHD) so its dead easy to spin the seat round 180 to access the battery. Thanks everyone - battery is now in kitchen charging... 8) Seriously considering the idea of removing the turntable under the drivin...

Just spent £39 on a mains charger in Halfords today already! Pfft. I'll be there with my socket set in the morning then...

Van is stuck on a hill a fair schlep from our house so not really an option unless I buy about 400yards of extension cable ;)

Thanks though - worth knowing for on site etc.
