Re: Tin top to Pop Top v High Top pros and Cons

Factory hightop for me.....Better looking than a boat-top (obviously that is a very subjective opinion....) and I hope less prone to seepage and rot than some of the conversions I have encountered.     No windows in mine, just a Fiamma roof vent.   Oddment storage possible along both sides (I have f...

Re: Dashboard errors!

Its a case of elimination.   The dash should be removed then inspected with a Bench Test of all functions to establish wether there are any problems with the Membrane Ribbon circuit.   If all OK you can then focus on other possible faults/causes.  I can carry out a full bench test but the dash woul...

Re: Dashboard errors!

I had problems with 42, a helpful chap (marlinowner) offered to check my original and new replacement on his known working van - both were faulty. A shame I can’t offer the same for you as my van is well out of action. But someone else might… :ok Thanks for the thought!   I would hope my £32 Brickw...

Re: Dashboard errors!

OK.  Since posting I have replaced Relay 43 with a new one from Brickwerks.  The fault persists.   The fault also persists with the relay out altogether.   Initially when I pulled the (original) relay the fault seemed to clear in as much as I got dash illumination and a normal response from the cool...

Re: Dashboard errors!

Had a chance to check the van again this morning.   Coolant level brimful in the engine bay tank and clean and pink as it should be so that confirms my hope that the coolant light was an erroroneous one.     Pulled relay 43 (42 not present on my van) and the dashlights and warning lights all behave ...

Re: Dashboard errors!

Very helpful....I'll check that first and report back.   Don't know if I will be up the barn very quickly but I'll definitely report back.  Hopefully it will be that simple and probably related to having been stood for a month or so.....
Cheers!

Dashboard errors!

I apologise if this is a resurrection of previous thread content but seem unable to currently access the very useful Wiki sections......    Got a 1.9DG (no tacho).   All of a sudden I find the coolant light coming on when the headlights are switched back off after having been on.  In conjunction wit...

Re: Replacement Engine

I've just run-in my VW Engine Co. turnkey DG.   Seems fine - initial worries I had about temp gauge reading high and possibly having to add coolant twice seem to have just been bedding-in and me not used to a cooling system actually working correctly.....    The turnround was very quick and trouble-...

Re: Coolant Level - New Engine

Likewise!   Just that my old cars are quite a bit simpler than T25s and don't represent this kind of investment in new engines.....Problem I think is I am watching the level too closely.  I've spoken again with the VWEC and they are happy that it is just settling in.

Re: Coolant Level - New Engine

Thanks for your replies, yes that sounds like a good next move....Also might leave it a bit rather than just top up in minute increments as it will tell me if both tanks are indeed doing their job.

Re: Coolant Level - New Engine

both oil and coolant are clean and correct colour.   I have checked the numberplate tank and it has remained between min and max but I haven't taken that to be the point at which I added coolant - that was purely when seeing a small drop in the engine bay tank.    I wonder if it is still expelling a...

Re: Coolant Level - New Engine

I've been looking purely at the one in the engine bay with the dalek on top.   I've brimmed it twice, both times at a fast idle and when I can see no more "movement" in the liquid, brimming it, capping off and immediately shutting down the engine.

Coolant Level - New Engine

Had a new WBX (DG 1.9) fitted at VW Engine Shop.  In accordance with their instructions I have been checking the coolant tank (engine bay one) and in 350 miles I've added 25-30cl of coolant.     It has just taken the second half of that dose, the first bit was put in after 150 miles.    No obvious l...

Re: Temp gauge reading high with warning light

I picked my van up from VW Engine Company on Thursday.   Brand new turnkey, fitted by them.   Temp gauge also reading 3/4 at normal running but my light so far has only flashed on normal start-up.   The temp gauge stays put unless I have the heater on when it drops to centre position.   I also queri...
