i have a 1.7 diesel and is not connected, should diesels have the upright pipe section as well ?

Wondering if anyone could help My battery needs replacing (1.7D T25 1989). The knackered battery is 540 cold staring 64 amp hours. Tried loads of websites etc but cant get a battery with the exact same amp hours. Also Checked the wiki but am a bit stumped. Am not hot on electrics etc so apologies be...

Had it checked by a friend and dodgy wiring was at fault. Had new wire put in and now working as it should be.
