If the fan is only working on number three speed then bad news could be your blower unit is just about to give in and go kaput, mine did the same. If you are getting a lower speed, possibly and this could be happen on number three...

Okay thanks for that information dave, but now I have a good motor in that is working and it just flew through its annual inspection no problems now it is on the market, I have purchased another van. Thanks to everyone for their input it truly was appreciated.

Okay that makes sense. As for the fitting I have no issues making another hole in the dash for, if that is the easier route than disconnecting things from the board then refitting.
