Re: Electricians question

As you lot love the ' you can't do that because of insurance ' blurb. As stated before, you are not allowed to do any electrical work in a special location (bathroom etc) with out it being signed off part P. Putting 240v electrics in a bathroom is a little higher up the scale than putting aftermark...

Re: double pole MCBs in consumer unit

As long as you have a 30mA rcd up front you will be fine. A common double pole mcb would be an rcbo which is an mcb and rcd combined. Problem is they are slightly taller so a bit of a squeeze. Current regs state you cannot mix a match brands so you would still not comply. http://www.parkelect.co.uk/...

Re: Electricians question

As long as it is outside 600 from the edge of the bath/shower enclosure then you can have the spur inside the bathroom. If you have just fitted it though and all the circuits inc lights are not on a 30mA rcd then you need to install supplementary bonding. ( link all pipe work and electrical connecti...

Re: led bulbs

Plod and/or MOT tester, and its modified from 'stock' under insurance terms. His vehicle though. You lot crack me up. Most coppers don't know there a*** from there elbow when it comes to stuff like that and would surely not be that bothered. Insurance companies try to wriggle out of anything anyway...

Have you found a legally approved H4 retro-fit solution then that doesn't dazzle and put at risk other road users ?

Who cares as long as he can see

Make sure it is 110% clean when you do it as even dust will show through.

Re: Devon roof help please

New gas struts will sort out the roof staying up problem. You could cut some fabric into small strips and glue them on to replace the duct tape. I would redrill the holes in the roof slightly bigger and use a bigger rivet. They are the weak point of the roof. :ok

Re: Hookup socket in the garden?

I have a 16A 3 pin commando (hookup) socket outside on my wall for plugging my camper into. I also have an normal extension lead with a 16A commando plug on it for plugging in my lawnmower and such. Similar to this, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK-16A-COMMANDO-SOCKET-200-250V-IP44-2P-E-K9201-BLU-/22157...

I marked my cushions as I was loading them up from my upholsterer and it was him that used white spirit in front of me. Says it is the best thing for it.

Re: Plumbing advice request - Motorised Valve

There will be a permanent live on the grey. ( or orange if they have wired it backwards ) You could try removing the stat from the equation and just put the common and call together in a block and see if it still buzzes. Some stats have a neutral and an anticipator that could be causing this if it i...

Re: Hook up - can i use a toastie maker?

An RCD will not make any difference to overload. It is the mcb that will protect from that.
