Re: Alternative coolant reserve tank?

Thanks for all the replies. Yep, it's the one behind the number plate that's missing. I innocently thought that the diesels didn't have them. How and ever, I've a few days off so if the weather's good I hope to get tinkering on the van again. And Winchweight, I might just take you up on the offer if...

Alternative coolant reserve tank?

Hi all, I've a 1985 CS 1.6 Diesel . I bought when I was a bit more naïve. To cut a long story short, I now realise I've no coolant reserve tank. I went to buy one but there are none available. Until the situation changes I was wondering is there an alternative coolant reserve tank I could use that w...

Re: AGR Engine Swap

I have a JX block (with pistons, conrods, crank), head and pump going spare if you are local and can pick it up. You would need a JX sump, turbo, manifold, exhaust etc. A winter project to fettle in the garage? I took my CS powered van on a UK tour - John o'Groats, Lake District,Wales, Cornwall - sl...

Re: AGR Engine Swap

I think the CS block is not suitable for a turbo as it doesn't have the oil channels used on a TD. By far the easiest/ cheapest upgrade from a 1.6 CS is the 1.9 1Y non-turbo. It is largely a straight swap. This thread might help:- https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=107034&sta...

Re: AGR Engine Swap

Well, i may have another option - if its possible - I reckon you're the guy to ask about fitting a turbo to a non turbo cs diesel engine. And if it is possible, is it worth the effort? Th engine I have has about 93000 on it, hasn't been misused too much but could do with a bit more power. Basically ...

Re: AGR Engine Swap

Thanks very much synchroandy. That's a good reason to consider another engine altogether. There's an old Audi engine a mate has that I may be able to get my ands on. I'm not too sure of the code. Here's hoping it'll be a better fit.

    AGR Engine Swap

Hi folks, I've got a donor vehicle - Octavia 1.9tdi, Engine code AGR - to upgrade my CS 1.6D non turbo engine from a 1986 t3 camper. I've been reading the threads and posts but have come across precious few relating to an AGR engine swap. Is an AGR engine any more difficult than other engine codes m...

    Re: Pressure relief valve location.

Weather is terrible and the month has flown by. Little baby no has a name - Arthur. Can't wait till he's old enough to help out. Back to work tomorrow. I've never attempted anything much more complicated than an oil change but I'm willing to give it a go. It'll have to be done on the driveway. I've ...

    Re: Pressure relief valve location.

Baby came early. Still a bit shook. Going to get to it as soon as permission is granted from the lady of the house. I've a month off so it'll get done. I better get all the parts needed first an then I'll tackle it.

    Re: Pressure relief valve location.

Now, I'm pretty much a Total novice when i comes to engines. Is the oil pump located inside the oil pan? If it is, I might just leave it until the misses delivers the baby - shes due any time now. Not sure what the pressures were. Mechanic jut said the pressure was reading high. I wasn't too concern...

    Pressure relief valve location.

Hi folks, I'm a long time reader of these pages but this is my first post. I have a t25 1986 1.6diesel cs engine. The buzzer of doom and flasher are driving me crazy. Had it in for a bit of work and after the mechanic testing the oil pressure was told the oil pressure was running high. Could be due ...
