Thanks Diamond It was a corroded tab on the sender,should have checked it properly before asking, but now I know there is some good advice out there.

Hi Harry I have never heard of bentley until I just looked up on google.When I said relay it was for want of a better word.I suppose it could be a reostat in the actual guage.
