Re: Slow and poor acceleration
Before you go spending a fortune on a new engine just try the basics, replace the fuel filter and put some diesel system cleaner in the tank and/or the fuel filter when you change it. I used Diesel Magic and the effect was, well... Magic. Also make sure you have'nt got any binding brakes and tyre pr...

Re: T25, top speed 45 MPH
Could it be the brakes binding? Jack up each wheel in turn to check that they spin freely. Sorry if this sounds elementary but it is sometimes the simple things that can catch us out. Best of luck.

Re: 1700 diesel engine
I love my KY. really economical, 36mpg+ with a high top, adequate performance, quiet (when she's warmed up) and will go up any hill you find as long as you keep the revs in the 'sweet spot' (when she 'Growls' a bit) - don't know what that is in exact revs cos I don't have a rev counter. She's a Camp...

Hammerite Thinners will clean it up treat. Just make sure you don't use a plastic brush cos it will melt.

Re: Fuel additives... Do they work and are they worth the money?
HMMM, Interesting I might give it a try in the future. I am certain that Diesel Magic works and that is about £10 but lasts for several months or a year I have found.

Re: Fuel additives... Do they work and are they worth the money?
I've just put a reply on another diesel related question to this effect but I certainly do know that they work. They clean the Injectors etc and the most noticeable difference will be in mid range performance and acceleration (around town particularly in my experience) It's not just a VW thing, I've...

Re: More oomph less crawling !!
Diesel Magic (in my opinion, the best) or some other fuel system cleaner can make a big difference to a diesel. That's surely worth a try? and like they say, enjoy your bus. Its about smiles per mile, not miles per hour.

Re: Rare diesel
Mine easily keeps up with normal traffic and I've never felt that I have held up anyone in their Lemming like race to the edge of the cliff. Diesel Magic fuel system cleaner works wonders, I use it on all of my diesels. When tackling hills I keep the revs up into the best torque band (when the exhau...

I love my KY. I agree with all of the above, I've never had any problems getting parts for mine. I may upgrade to a 1.9 one day but not until absolutely neccessary, meanwhile.... I'm smiling all the way to the bank.... 36MPG!!!!

Re: Identy of my van.
That looks exactly like the one I have. I think it is a Reimo Aeroline roof. Definitely a Riemo interior. My bed is diferent to that, we have more headroom above the bed because it lays down onto the engine cover carpet without a storage space under the rearmost cushion of it.

Re: 1.7 ky diesel
Hi There, I have a 1.7 diesel and it runs just fine. I would'nt call it a racing car but it will accellerate smoothly all the way up to 75mph flat out. Will cruise all day long at 55-60 mph, but best of all is the economy, I'm getting 36-38 mpg without even trying and I'm sure that I could get 40 mp...

Re: Petrol Cap cleaning
I had exactly the same problem with mine. I doused it in 3 in 1, WD40, Diesel fuel (It is a diesel anyway) and everything else I could think of but it only made it slightly better for a short while so, being worried about snapping the ignition key off in the lock, I gave up and bought a new one from...

I got one from Towsure, Virtually identical to the original one. Wish I'd used Sikaflex sealant but used a mongrel brand which developed a leak. Seems to be cured now that I re-tightened the screws.

Re: Engine is on its last legs - which way to jump next?
Here's a suggestion, SORN the camper, Buy a cheap van of some sort for work, There's plenty out there. Remove your engine and take it into the LOUNGE in front of the FIRE and TELLY. Strip it down (you'll be learning as you go, so will your wife, if you have one) Then, over the winter , rebuild it to...
