Re: Grips
Although expensive, Hazet is always a good choice. For smaller screws where the normal tools don't work any more, I use this one from Cimco: http://www.cimco-international.com/World-first-in-the-CIMCO-product-range---the-screw-pliers_1293.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;...

Re: Solar controllers
Have only had the solar panel (140w) for a few months but I got this: http://www.ctek.com/lu/en/chargers/D250S%20DUAL" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; as a controller because it appears to be a P&P thing, charges the starter battery when the leisure one is full and appear...

Re: Locked keys in Pickup
Doublecab or single. My doka has a hole in the wall under the seat base that lets me get into the locker? That would be because your doka is a syncro. The hole is there to be able to store and access the spare wheel. In my Syncro doka there was a Spare wheel holder welded there. Because of the fron...

Both wheels at the same time? I doubt it. Guess it is the brakes.

Re: Gearbox Oil Change
IIRC you should not fill up the transmission oil to the overflow (filler) opening. The correct filling level is a little below that. From what I learnt VW found out that filling the gearbox up till overflow level was too much so they recommended little less but didn't want to remanufacture the gearb...

Re: subaru air intake syncro doka
Hi John, noise is one issue, the doka is noisy enough as it is (or was, just more or less finished the conversion). The main reason is, it's a syncro and I would like to use it occasionally in it's natural habitat (offroad, sand, mud, dirt). Therefore, I wanted to stick to the air intake through the...

Re: Doka engine bay
Sorry ssdt,
Not suggesting anything, I just tried to explain what the round hole is good for. I have no idea what the elongated one is supposed to do or if it's ok to close it.

Re: Doka engine bay
Hi, I have a syncro doka and the round hole on the right side (looking from the rear) is where my engine's air intake is connected to. Have a wbx engine with air filter, cyclone filter and from there, there is a flexible hose to the round hole. There is a connection from there to the C-pillars where...

Re: Subaru engine buzzer of doom
The VW Buzzer should be immobilized when a Subaru engine is used. Vw WBX engines have two oil pressure switches, one with 0.3 bar that makes the oil light in the dash go out after a few seconds when ignition is turned on an pressure builds up.The other has 0.8bar and lets the buzzer go off (and the ...

Re: subaru air intake syncro doka
Interesting setup axeman, thank you for the picture. Will consider copying it. Good thing about the doka is that there is more space available also above the actual engine compartment. The only restricting issues are that there is a defined length between throttle body and air mass meter and that th...

subaru air intake syncro doka
Couldn't find suitable things through search so I'll risk starting a new thread: I'm all set to implant a 2.2 Subaru engine into my syncro doka. Are there any helpful pictures as to how to route the air intake? I would like to keep the T25 cyclone filter and use the air intake via the C-pillar/cross...

Re: Thermal runaway - a warning to all owners
I've had the dash out a few times already (OK on the other T25, larger brake booster, insulation,...). It's not really that much of a job, nothing compared to swapping the starter on a syncro wbx

Re: Only Mercedes rims in here!
Hey Titus, don't mean to hijack this thread for problems that people from the UK have never had but: these rims are a straight fit (apart from the nuts/bolts) and are 15" which means your choice of tires is much larger than with the standard 14" ones. Since the load rating in Germany is mu...

Re: Only Mercedes rims in here!
Mercedes steel rims (7J 15 ET25) from the 80s W126 S-Class. Staight fit, no spacers only different radius on the nuts/bolts (R12 instead of VW's R14). http://up.picr.de/25675212mc.jpg Good size for a wide range of AT tires and if you get a set from Kronprinz (marked KPZ6222A) then you also have a pr...
