Re: Broken cab heater
Does anyone know how to take this apart? The motor looks like it wants to be pulled out of the casing due to plastic clips holding it there, but it can't because of the fan blade. Which would suggest it it can only be popped out by pushing it into the casing? No bolts/ screws that I can see to be un...

Re: Broken cab heater
Ok, poured some water in and the heater box doesn't appear to be leaking, but the stop valve does. The fan turns ok but doesn't 'spin', it's quite stiff but this might just be because it's not been used for quite a while? Not applied a voltage yet, just grab a couple cables & try it on the van b...

Re: Broken cab heater
Yes you are right, you've examined my heater more closely than me and I've got it right here staring me in the face.

Re: Broken cab heater
Ok grand, thanks for the tips. So... check for leaks first, then check bearings, then try giving it a spin, and fit a stop valve while I'm at it. I shall commence by the weekend and let you know how I get on.

Broken cab heater
Hi all! Having just driven my van in the cold autumn/ winter months for the very fist time (it was off the road during winter last year) I've just found out how numbingly cold it is in the cab without a working dashboard heater! Considering I'm meant to be driving my very little niece and her mum an...

Re: New alternator causing electrical buzz
Right well, I managed to work out where the oil pressure switches were (thanks to your help) and there was indeed a broken length of wire. Most likely caused when I replaced the starter motor as I did that just before I replaced the alternator. Buzzer must have kept quite after that repair as the al...

Re: New alternator causing electrical buzz
Ok, alternator now wired up correctly (I hope!). Oil pressure lead into the W terminal, big fat red + lead from the battery wired up as my old alternator. Blue battery indication light lead into the only other available position. Dashboard battery light works, buzzer now comes on at low revs (?! I'm...

Re: New alternator causing electrical buzz
Ok, sorry for confusing the point! Thinking too much. Battery light does not work so will connect the wire.

Re: New alternator causing electrical buzz
ok, I've checked the dash battery light and it isn't coming on so I'm assuming it's ok to connect the blue wire to the bolt fixing on the alternator as seen in the picture posted last night? As for the buzzer The flashing oil pressure light and 'buzzer of doom' are operated by the low-low pressure s...

Re: New alternator causing electrical buzz
I seem to remember the battery light flickering on and off when I last took the van for a spin. Will check it again as soon as I'm dressed and up...

Re: New alternator causing electrical buzz
Aaah I see. I bought it with a '97 Golf 1.9 Tdi in it.
Big thick red wire, check, connected. Thin blue wire with ring terminal, check, not connected. Thin red & black wire, check, connected.
P.S. Applogies for not mentioning the engine that's in there in the first place.

Re: New alternator causing electrical buzz
Right well new update, new question. i.e. problem still not resolved. Finally got around to getting my alternator bracket off to the smithy to have it altered (had no cash for it until pay day) and have fitted it so now the belt is all nicely aligned. So that bit is fine. However, I checked over the...
