Re: Advice please - electrical issues

Thanks guys, I sent Tim an email and he is on holiday until next week.

Hopefully once he's back I can get the van sorted fairly quickly.

Re: T25: Cost/Benefit of 1.9 AAZ or 1.9 TDI engine replacement

Hi, I had a 1.9 TDi put in my Westy Hitop by Tim Shettle in Bristol. It is great, it was expensive @ £4K, but for that I got 110 bhp & 5 gears as Tim used the gearbox out of the donor vehicle. I spent a large part of last year driving through Europe and averaged 40 mpg over 19000 miles. Good luc...

Any ideas for European wide camper an insurance... ?

Hi I am off to Europe for an extended tour (possibly starting in July), I hope to be away for a year. Does anyone have any ideas on how to insure a camper van to get the same level of cover as UK i.e. fully comprehensive, fixed value. I'll phone AF in the morning, but thought I'd start by garnering ...

Hi & thanks to everyone for the replies to my post. I'll follow up later in the week & post any additional info I find. RIcj&Ang - I've posted a photo of the under engine cover - it keeps the road crud of the engine. You can see the two pieces of foam that I need to replace. [img][/Users...

T25 engine bay insulation ??

I have just removed the under engine cover from my 1984 T25, given it a damn good clean and am looking to repaint it and refit. I may need to replace the shaped foam sound insulation. Is there a supplier for these items ? Alternatively if I have to cut it myself can I get away with aluminium backed ...

Thanks for all of the excellent advice. As I'm a mechanic incompetent I will book the van in tot a garage for pressure / leakage tests.

If it is a head gasket, I might swap the engine, I was thinking of getting that done anyway. Only problem is finding a good lump to use.

Thanks to all.
