Re: Upper Balljoint Nut
Use a jack under the lower arm to jack up and compress ball joint back in. This may be enough to grip it and allow you to tighten nut up then really clean threads as above. If that doesn't work, angle grinder with a thin blade and cut a slot in the top of ball joint to allow you to put a screwdriver...

Re: What’s best to bond wood to fibreglass?
I use West Systems Epoxy resin. Its what is used on boats for wood to fibreglass/gelcoat fixings, also used in building trade for wood to wood where structural strength is needed.

Re: Filling seams
Seams are notoriously hard to sort as the rust gets into the folds of metal. My best results have been using a small grit blaster like you can get from machine mart that has the rubber shroud. You then use stone grit (not metal) and this gets in better than a wire brush. Best done on a warm dry day ...

Re: Make Autosleeper Great Again
Hey Fugeh, they look like all the normal places for a T25 or AS to rust so at least its "normal". I got someway into restoring a Trident Hardtop a few years back but life took over so it is still a part finished project  If you want to look at some of the early repairs there is a th...

Very nice, toyed with making something similar myself but didn't do enough rebuilds to justify. Will make testing a breeze though

Re: Gutter corners and roof corner rust
Too far gone for lead loading, even with media blasting it is unlikely you will get the metal clean enough for the lead to stick (you "tin" the metal first). Lead loading is used to smooth out bodywork but it isn't a fix for filling holes/badly rusted sections. Your proper solution is to r...

Re: JX td alternator drive belt issues
I believe the spring under the alternator is an AAZ thing, not seen on a standard JX. Pulleys should be aligned with very little wobble, you will see some but not enough to trash belts. I would be checking the alternator to alternator bracket mounting bolts and also the alternator bracket to engine ...

Re: Need to reduce boost as get-me-home 1z engine
Couple of thoughts. Not sure on the effect of disconnecting the switch as mine doesn't have it! Does your injection pump have the boost controlled LDA? (small tube going to the top of the pump). This uses boost pressure to alter the fuel when on boost, if you disconnected that it would "leak&qu...

Re: Instrument panel lights fault
Do you mean the lights in the instrument cluster (speedo etc?) These are fed via a long flat multi pin connector on the back of the cluster. On mine this was not making a good contact which meant the instrument cluster light circuit on the blue ribbon was not getting a +ve feed hence no lights. Pret...

Re: Urgent help needed
Hi Jonathan, there are 2 OP switches on these so not sure which one you are referring to, but if you want to research what the colours mean (there are 4 options  ) and which one you need have a read of this over on the Brickwerks site https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/brickwerks-blog/vw-t3-oil-pre...

Well doen - take encouragement from the fact that: a) you have done far more than me and most do b) you are getting to use the van as well :ok Rust coming back is all down to the prep as you guessed. Can't remember if you covered this earlier but the little hand held shot blasters are great for seem...

Re: Towing a small van (on an A frame) on a T25
In my experience T25's tow fine, they are basically a van and vans tow all sorts of stuff! Now these are old school so its not like towing with your latest 2.5Tdi Ducato or the like, but no reason why towing should destroy the vehicle if done sensibly. IIRC the towing capacity on our vans is about 2...

Wow, thats a lucky college, and great if you can get access to the dyno, will make building/tuning the WBX's so much more of a science seeing the difference specific tweaks make
