Re: Carpet lining a panel van

The roof had been cut too shape beforehand and then varnished. It has come up quite nicely although I have some further plans for it when I get time. I bought some led downlighters that are 12v and are touch sensitive - this is brilliant as you can switch them on and off individually without needing...

Re: Carpet lining a panel van

So, next up fitted the sliding door panels which were quite easy, and the opposite door panels which were a bit more fiddly! http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k599/mm289/Myrtle/2016-08-13%2020.33.38_zpsdqiuyspk.jpg http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k599/mm289/Myrtle/2016-08-13%2020.34.03_zpsjaue...

Re: Carpet lining a panel van

So basic process for doing panels (at least how I did them  ) is - lay panel on carpet, mark and cut round with about 1 1/2 inches to spare. http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k599/mm289/Myrtle/2016-08-08%2019.09.03_zpsvloyegcd.jpg Then spray panel and carpet, leave for a min or two then place...

Re: Carpet lining a panel van

So, on to the carpeting. Bought the kit of MegVanMats complete with 80-90 discount. Followed the instructions and started with the sides, did the B - C post and top rail first, then down to mid rail, then C - D post etc.Ran it all the way upto and around the door frame having taken off the seat belt...

Re: Carpet lining a panel van

Next off started working my way round the remaining lower panels. These were all a pretty good fit to be fair, the only thing to be aware of is the panels are a tight fit in the aperture. This is because I think they are designed for someone wanting to just put one big piece of carpet down the side ...

Re: Carpet lining a panel van

Bit of an update, had a long weekend so cracked on. Started by test fitting the panels. I bought a set of pre cut panels off e-bay seller customshop_designs_uk http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/302016469619?nma=true&si=xos%2BHG7s2ak4T0D%2B%2FsLFT2vxjsk%3D&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2557&orig_cvip=...

Re: Cupboard - Interior recommendations

Really like your cupboard Gary, nicest ones I have seen so far. Look a bit more "rugged" :)

Out of interest, how heavy is the finished item, our van doubles as a..... van  so I sometimes need to take the storage unit out?

Re: Carpet lining a panel van

Got a couple of hours to work on the van tonight when it wasn't raining :!: Did the final fit on roof panel and trimmed to size, no pics of it fitted yet but here it is ready to be varnished :) http://i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k599/mm289/Myrtle/2016-08-02%2020.36.22_zpst7aqo84p.jpg Next step is t...

Re: Carpet lining a panel van

OK, progress update - takes longer to upload pics to Photobucket than it does to do the jobs  Started with gluing some battens to the roof, want to make the lining follow the side to side curve of the roof but keep it pretty flat front to back. Used Sikaflex EBT+ available from Screwfix altho...

Re: Not entirely sure how bad this is

Yep, looks like JP has totally gone. When you do the repair be aware that you will probably need to expose the inner sill and also the return "flap" of the wing where it mates up to the outside of the JP, if it has rusted out that badly I would expect those areas to need attention as well....

Re: Getting to grips with a rotten roof (Pic heavy)

OMG that roof is really gone!!! - much worse than mine which had only gone front and back. New one looks nice though :D There are a couple of threads on here by MetalMickey where he has done roof re-seals - worth having a read - he used Sikafkex or similar to seal i think. Not a fan of the rubber do...
