Thanks for the reply. Yes I have got the seperate plate not sure what it actually does obviously it fits on what I am calling the front of the engine bars not sure whether its left or right but the flat plates at the back have 4 holes each but there is only 2 threaded holes each side of the rear cro...

finally got round to fitting the diesel engine into my van but found the flat mounting plates on the engine bars that fit to the rear cross member have four holes each side for bolts but the cross member is only deep enough for 2 bolts each side and the top two are not being used which makes the eng...

input shaft removal
I am trying to remove the gearbox input shaft on a 5 speed diesel gear box, to have the end repaired I have removed the bell housing and a small circlip at the bottom of the shaft, but not sure what else needs to be done to remove the shaft

The gearbox input shaft spiggot bearing on my VW T25 has collapsed and the rollers disintegrated, does anyone know where to get a new one and is there any special way of getting the old one out.

Is the choke coming off once the engine is warmed up? If its running on choke all the time MPG will be poor. Having removed the air filter it would appear that the choke is sticking on, I played about with the choke valve and eventually it came off but not sure whether it is faulty is there anythin...

The pierburg carburettor on my 86 camper van has done 175k miles and appears to be worn out I am getting approx 8m to gallon out of it. So I want to replace it with a second hand one from a breakers yard. Does anybody know what will fit

1.6 diesel engine
I have just bought a 1.6 diesel engine and 5 speed gearbox with the intention of replacing a 1.9 watercooled engine presently fitted, will the four speed gear linkage work the 5 speed box and also can anyone tell me approx mpg i can expect from the diesel engine.

the 2 wires i have spare under the thermostat housing one is green and black and the other is yellow
There is a piece of brown wire attached to the oil switch but it has been cut at some time

oil pressure warning switch
Just refitted the engine on a 1.9 watercooled petrol not sure where the wire goes for the oil pressure warning switch on the side of the crank case. If anybody can let me know I would be very grateful. There seems to be 2 loose wires beneath the thermostat housing but not sure if these are the right...

Piston Rings
I am trying to rebuild a 1.9 water cooled engine over the christmas holidays but I have now found one of the middle piston rings is broken. Can anybody tell me where to buy them or alternatively does anybody have them that I could buy. Any help would be much appreciated.
