Re: Television headrest mount
Resolved this a while ago but thought I should maybe post in case anyone else has similar issue. I eventually bought a standard 2-piece wall mounting bracket. I lashed the wall section to the middle headrest with ratchet strap and bolted the other section to the television as per instructions. Not t...

Remove oil cooler?
Hi, I have a 2.1DJ in my `84 tin-top twin slider which replaced a 1.9DG. Due to mismatch of ancillaries I have an oil cooler that is not connected to the water cooling system. I have since found that the source of an oil leak is from the top of the oil cooler. My question is simply, if I remove the ...

Television headrest mount
Think this is an "interior" issue. Does anyone know of a suitable bracket/mod to mount a 16"-19" television to headrest(s)? I have a double front seat in my twin slider so a fixture to headrest(s) would be ideal. Just cant source bracket that deals with anything larger than 10&qu...

Re: Broken head stud

Just in process of swapping ancillaries and loosening well corroded fastenings!! Big Bang getting ever closer!! Thanks for yo...

swapping 1.9 to 2.1
Check out "Broken Head Stud" for full story!! New thread for advice/support on subsequent issue. Have stripped both 1.9 DG and 2.1 DJ as far as manifold off and getting fuel lines out of way etc and nearly ready to take both engines out to swap over. 1.9 is from an '84 transporter and 2.1 ...

Re: Broken head stud
Engine is 2.1 DJ. Had quick nosey round it this evening and if I'm taking full engine, pipework, electrical boxes, etc, then reckon it'll be fairly straight-forward. Can anyone advise me on the inputs to the fuel injection electrical box on the left of engine bay? How do I connect to the loom of the...

Re: Broken head stud
Phew!!! Thank goodness for that!! :D I had read somewhere about early 1.9DG's having a problem with oil cooler compatibility but the later style was ok? Didn't really understand what the problem could be TBH!!! As regards manifold/carb swap. is there any benefit to not having fuel injection? Hoping ...

Re: Broken head stud
I have been offered a "loan" of a friends fuel injected 2.1 (not sure of the engine code) and wondered if there are any compatibility issues when replacing a 1.9DG. Just realised that I should probably have started a new thread but will see what response comes back through this one first. ...

Re: Broken head stud
Havn't replaced studs yet. I personally wouldn't be replacing studs every time the head came off. Not at £220+ a set!!! I agree that infrequent or inaccessible bolts/studs should be replaced with new, but also think this has to be carefully balanced with practicality, pressures and budget. I...

Re: Broken head stud
Think you maybe misinterpreted. I have been reading posts on head removal for weeks/months and totally understand the "how it's done". In fact, head has been off twice already and presented no previous problems. Was just feeling too sorry for myself to start sifting through all the posts o...

Re: Thermostat o-ring
Sounds like you know the bit I'm speaking about. Yup, there is a groove on solid pipe. Will persevere and take some cleaner and wire wool to the surfaces and re-grease as you advise.
Appreciate your assistance.

Thermostat o-ring
Hi folks, Working on 1.9 dg engine. I am in the process of reconnecting the solid metal water pipe, which runs behind the pulleys and belt, into the thermostat housing. When I try and ease the pipe and o-ring into the housing the o-ring inevitably slips out of the locating groove and slips further d...
