Gelert tarp ( this one is xl). Works well and use fig 8 to fix to roof gutter.

Monsal trail is very good. I can recommend it. We cycled there last summer. Kids are 5 and 8.
Try the Sustrans website for cycle routes.
The old railway line from Keswick - Threlkeld is another.

Try rivington country park near Bolton. You could wild camp near Belmont and the Black Dog in Belmont is a decent pub
