Re: Bodywork restoration on my van gets underway..

Your van is taking shape nicely, fingers crossed it's ready for your holiday.

I can vouch for the quality of product and service from the vinyl depot, we got ours from there. They will send samples if requested, they have an ebay shop for small amounts, or direct for larger amounts.

Re: Our Camper Restoration Project c/o Doug's VW Werks

Your interior looks fab, I'm sure it will fit. Savannah Beige is a lovely choice of colour, we used to have a Savannah Beige Type 3, until some bafoon wrote it off just before Christmas 2007. Here's a little picture of the colour, typically the best pictures that show the colour are on 35mm. Your ph...

Re: over heating

I'm pleased you've found the problem, but also not so pleased for your bank balance. The radiater sounds like my old one, blocked. Could it be blocked with the rust from the pipes? I'm not sure which pipes are best, is there a recommendation in the wiki? Brickwerks also sell stainless pipes, http://...

Hi Doug, Sorry I haven't a clue, I rang the company linked above and told them what van I had and they sent the seals out to me. They are all genuine VW.

Re: over heating

I should have said that my temp gauge was near the bottom during all this, I thought it was working fine, clearly not. After I had it "fixed" it always said it was too hot, when it wasn't. Of course now it sits in the middle, at last!!! If you bled some more air out, fingers crossed it's t...

Re: over heating

I guess it is possible they gave you the wrong thermostat, or it has an air lock. Have you bled it according to the wiki? When mine did have genuine over heating issues, the radiater bled fine, but it wasn't getting hot all the way, I had that changed after the water pump was changed, it was then fi...

Re: over heating

It could be kit, mine kept saying it was over heating, it turned out to be the wrong senders and very bad earths, it now has nice new ones and fresh earth wires made. I've now got brickwerks senders.

Fingers crossed you sort it ok.

Re: Our body work story.

Hi Doug, we used exactly the same method for all the windows, we bought our seals from volkwagen emporium based on a recommendation here. http://www.volkswagenemporium.co.uk/type25parts.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; There are other companies that are also good quality,...

Re: Our body work story.

Chers Gaz. :ok Right some pics of her now, one was taken in Wales this weekend and due to a flat camera battery and broken charger the other was taken at home, I'm sure you can guess which is which, lol. In a couple of weeks she is being flatted and polished, I think that is right. She will be shiny...

Re: cab window trim?

Hi Jamie, I believe the window trim is called window felt, there is also a quarter light felt. The A, B, C pillars are the upright bits between the windows, A pillars are either side of the windscreen, B pillars are the next set back - between the cab doors and side windows and C pillars are the nex...

Re: Our body work story.

looks like your doing a really good job with your van. - Mine is also a work in progress... Can I ask how you got the rear windows back in? Mine are currently all out and fearing it would be difficult to put them back in I had a practice before i finished the paintwork arouns the windows. I failed....

Re: Our body work story.

A long awaited update, well we've been on holiday in the camper, she wasn't finished but perfectly usable. After I fitted the smoked rear lences the tail lights, one brake light and the tow bar brake lights decided not to work, that makes me sound really incompetent, I'm not really that bad. So I, t...

Re: Andy Tats Hinklevagon

I've enjoyed following the progress on your camper, Mike has done a great job. :ok It's a lovely feeling when you use it again. Regarding the awning, our old one marked our old paint, but our replacement one has elasticated sides so we can have a gap between it and the van, I'm sure you've got it in...

Re: Our body work story.

She passed her MOT today, sorry now yesterday, next job is a service, new timing belt and a posh new exhaust. Someone else is fitting them, I've bought the parts and probably the sandwiches and make many teas, but I don't mind that. I sorted the side lights out, they did fit when I looked closer, I ...

Re: Our body work story.

Ahhhh a Timber tech's roof top choice there I have one loads of room and look about the best once on! I totally agree, it is really airy, nice people too. It took us hours to remove it. We often checked under it to make sure no one had moved in, it would be a good place to shelter over night. :rollin
