Re: Which MIG welder should I buy. (Home use)

I'll keep looking for second hand, but most of the units I've come across are junk. Yes, and that's the problem. Cheap mig welders often use low quality chinese rectifiers / transformers which, if being pushed hard, will run very hot. These migs usually have a cooling fan so it's a very good idea t...

Re: Which MIG welder should I buy. (Home use)

Try to get one with a euro neck fitted, I. E one that can be turned around to access tight areas. And try your hand with.8 or even .6 wire for thinner metal. Still works well enough but not leaving you a pile of metal to grind off later  If you can afford it, get a gas bottle regulator that bo...

Good luck with the job, bung some pics up afterwards

Re: Seam Sealant - When to apply

I am about to start the restoration / rebuild of my bus. I going to clean out all the seams, treat them with Owatröl, the question is - when do I apply the seam sealant? Do I first primer and then apply the sealant or do I apply the sealant and then prime? I intend masking the either side of the se...

Re: Applying decals?

Clean and degrease the area where it's to go, spray the surface with water from the wife's houseplant spray thing, peel the paper off, apply the decal onto the wet surface, the water will help it slide to position, use a plastic body filler spreader or similar to squeegee the water out, peel the tra...

Re: Brickwerks wheel arch liners - thoughts?

But, and I've not physically seen how these are fitted, if self tappers are being used where water is present, surely that will give future rust issues :?

Slow oil leak from area of oil filter. Slow coolant leak from area below plastic coolant pressure tank. Sometimes these very minor problems obviously get lost in the noise so to speak But Seemed simple at first septin: The oil leak eventually tracked down to the level below my oil cooler plumbing a...

Re: Best Bumper Paint Please

You'd need a plastic primer for the plastic bits, obviously. The primer won't go over unprepared plastic either, it will need through degreasing first because the release agents used in their moulding process can make successful painting diffict. ( early F_ord Ka's were a prime example of aftermarke...
