Re: A post RELAY ??

On mine (RHD, 1983 1.9 DF) its for the no.43 relay which controls the coolant temperature sensor/gauge circuit. If you're missing one I'd expect your coolant temp gauge and led not to work....

Think they are obsolete and a No.42 may be used instead.

So basically, wot Billy said.

Re: Anyone run a tin-top as a camper?

Yep, I have a tintop homebrew camper and I'm 6' 2". Not planning to change to a pop top as the van has enought leaky seams and seals already, or to a hightop as my fuel consupmtion and strong wind handling is already poor enough for my liking! I can also squeeze into most car parks still. As a ...

Re: Water Pump

In the middle of changing mine now (1.9 DF as earlier in thread). I've managed to shear one of the allen bolts on the lower metal pipe and now see that my only option is to remove the crankshaft pulley. Problem is It's too close to the exhaust to get a socket over, even to size it, and none of my sp...

Re: Project with No Name

And he she is, all packed up ready for our holiday. I didn't have time to fit cupboard doors, or match the RnR bed to the rest of the van, but she was functional:

Re: Project with No Name

With the interior essentially done (save for cupboard doors) I set about fixing the new tailgate: Some rust treated, painted and stuffed with insulation. http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j475/mrwoof3/IMAG0300.jpg Given its weight I enlisted the help of my friend Tim, who is also 6'+ with the theo...

Re: Project with No Name

And here we go: All the units back in, laminate flooring back down. http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j475/mrwoof3/IMAG0301.jpg The pipes you see under the cooker are for the sink, the blue one has a whale pump on the end and was threaded though to the tap and a clean water container stowed here. ...

Re: Project with No Name

Once everything was insulated and the interior panels back on, I started to refit/rebuild the side units. As you can see since I don't have a drive or garage, just communal off street parking and a small yard 25m away everything had to live in the van whilst I worked. http://i1087.photobucket.com/al...

Re: Project with No Name

Ok, Its been a while, was too busy tarting up and using the van during my summer leave, then too busy in third term to get any updates up. So summer leave arrived and I set to work on the interior: http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j475/mrwoof3/IMAG0293.jpg Quite a lot going on in this pic. Back l...

Re: Water Pump

Rather than start a new topic, I though I'd ask here as its particularly relevant. Bit of background (skip down if you just want the questions): I've been losing coolant at an ever increasing rate recently, first thought was the heater matrix- small puddle in cab (i assumed rain) but temp gauge went...

Re: Watercooled 1.6TD Joker - overheating AND cab heater fault

Searching for answers to my own cooling issues and came across thins. Have you sorted the cab heating yet? Mine decided to do the auto-centering lever trick a while back. I found that the heater valve (up behind the spare wheel) was very stiff. Due to it's resistance and the length+angle of the cont...

Re: 240V Hook Up wiring

Yes, although the usual way would be to run the hook up cable to the consumer unit and then run a single out to the motorcaravan structure but so as long as it's done it's not critical how. The Regulations when these vans were first around didn't specify anything, but the new ones do..... Surely it...

Re: Project with No Name

Unfortunately, things got put on hold for a good while due to work commitments. I had originally planned to tackle some general seam rust around the rear arches myself, but with the summer approaching and time against me I booked her in to a local welder. Just in time for the beginning of my summer ...

Re: Project with No Name

Before I got round to fitting anything back to the van, I had some more pressing issues to sort out: http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j475/mrwoof3/IMAG0237.jpg The other side was almost as bad, and I had a couple of holes in the cab floor. So she went to MAD workshop in Bristol for 2 weeks whilst...
