Re: Rock and roll bed hinges

I wish I had read this last week. I have just installed just Kames hinges, I have got the bed level with the engine bay, but the seat height is lower and a little more vertical than I would like. It also took a very stressful day to get near complete. It would have been easier to go from scratch. I ...

Re: 1.9 PD T3 Westfalia Atlantic conversion

Hi All, Keith bought this van to visit me today - I am doing this conversion, and he thought I may need some inspiration (spot on :ok ). So, it has been beautifully done, Mario, you should be very proud. Its a great base vehicle, but that engine and box put it to the absolute peak, it just pulls and...

Re: TDI immob chip fitted to T25 key

I have the chip in a right click fob. I adapted (cut and filed) a standard key to fit, I have been using it for almost 2 years now, so its fair to say it works. I have it wired in to after market central locking and a boot release. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p8lqElghUqc/UU789LUUqcI/AAAAAAAAA...

Re: v6 tdi

My van is now sat engine less. I definately want to go tdi and am thinking either PDF 130 or 2.5 tdi. Lots of people are pushing me to PDF, but I want 2.5tdi. I have already done a home spun flipped gearbox (agg with 1.8 20v 5 speed gearbox) which was very good, but engine is sold and gearbox I will...

Re: GTi engine conversion.

Look up t3panel's thread in the bus park on Brickyard, it is about as near to a step by step guide as you will get.

As Hutch says, it is a pretty easy conversion, especially if you don't try to do the dash as well.

Re: Alternative instruments and switchgear

If you are using a speed which uses a speed sensor you can get aa pulse generator from http://home.arcor.de/nolan/tachokonverter/WIZ_Golf3.htm . The designer says you can calibrate your speed against a gps and get a 0.2% accuracy. They also make a wiring connector which plugs into the standard t3 sp...

Re: What's the tranny?

That's really good info. The sticker under the dash is missing - strange cos some others are still there like the bar code on the passenger door surround! I definately made out 3 letters, the middle is a B, last looked like a D or O so I think it's an ABD (yes, it's 4 speed). Many thanks for your he...

Re: What's the tranny?

Hi,

No, that's the spot, and all that's visible.

The first part of the code is just visible, but not readable!

Thanks for the pointer.

What's the tranny?

I am trying to identify what model of gearbox I have in my 1985 Autosleeper with DG engine, see link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/69250730@N04/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The first letters are pretty much inreadable, but the numbers 907 5 are clear as day. Any bright i...

South of France in a hi top brick

Hi all, Have any of you guys got experience of touring the med coast in a high top? We are planning a tour next year near to Montpellier, but are concerned that we may have trouble parking and getting to the beaches because of our height! (So Mrs Fufflenarnia wants to take the Touran instead - comfy...

The value of an engine conversion

HI All, I am undecided as to whether convert to golf GTI or 1.9TD. My question is - how does a conversion affect the value of a bus? Does a petrol conversion add more or less value? How about with LPG? Is diesel more saleable? Or is it better for the value to stick with the waterboxer? I am not that...

Re: Sumps for Diesel conversions

Now that's interesting, it would be good to know how it was done and if it is sound.

Ironically I need a diesel sump so I can fit a petrol engine! (I want to fit a GTI lump).

Re: TDI ECU Question

Sorry, you're right, I wasn't very clear. So I guess there are 2 questions to answer: If I don't burn the security out of the ECU, what do you do with the clocks, ignition, etc... - fit them to the bus and replace the existing stuff? or stick them in a box somewhere in the van, connected and working...

TDI ECU Question

Hi All, In the header to this forum it mentions that: 1.9TDI There are a bewildering array of VW 1.9TDI engines, from 90bhp upwards to 150bhp. Early units are basic electronic TDI, later make even greater use of electronics for smoother running and economy. If you are going electronic be aware that ...
