Re: AAz Turbo Vacuum hose

what I have got are 2 rubber pipes coming from the turbo vacuum actuator. The one closest to the actuator arm is already connected back to the turbo body itself. The other pipe (rubber hose covered with material) is long enough to reach the rocker cover area but currently isnt connected to anything....

Re: Red flashing light on temperature guage

I sort of fixed it. Found 3 nuts at the back of the dash pod which corresponds to temp guage. Fiddled with these and the light has stopped. Although the temp guage is working ok, I have no flashing light at all even on startup (or sometimes just a faint glimmer. ) . Does anyone know if the light act...

AAz Turbo Vacuum hose

I have just got a van with an AAZ engine fitted. I have discovered a vacuum hose that comes from the diapragm below the turbo but isnt attached anywhere else at the other end. Any clues as to where it should go?

Re: Red flashing light on temperature guage

right here goes: I located the control switch (black cube with a number 43 on it tucked up above the fuse box inside the dash panel, very well hidden!) and removed it. Started the engine and after the 30 second test run, it stopped flashing! So I 'thought' i had cracked it and located the problem .....

Red flashing light on temperature guage

I've tried to find answers to this problem on the site but I'm still scratching my head. The temp gauge light is always flashing. It flashes for a few seconds when first start up then stops for a few seconds and then starts up again and continues. The coolant level is topped up and the vehicle doesn...

Engine wont turn off with ignition

I have a 1.9 diesel fitted to my T25 that came from a Polo - non turbo. Its starts ok but when i turn the ignition off and remove the key - it still runs! I've had to wire in a switch to cut the circuit for now but any suggestions ? Could it be the actual ignition switch? (I didnt have this problem ...

Re: AEF (Bosch) alternator wiring problem

Wierdest thing now....I had the spare wire from alternator which was the Revcounter feed. So I decided to fit a revcounter and now the engine stops as expected on the ignition key. Dunno why but it has solved the problem .

Re: AEF (Bosch) alternator wiring problem

In the end i fitted a simple switch at the dashboard to cut the ignition when the key is removed. Seems to work but I still dont know why it behaves like it does.

Re: AEF (Bosch) alternator wiring problem

Hi Colin. Thanks for the excellent write up - I wouldnt have chosen the AEF conversion without it :) Its been suggested that the fuel cut off solenoid could be at fault (the 2 black wires going to the immobiliser?) Seeing as I had a 50/50 chance of getting the feed/earth wires correct i wonder if i ...

Re: AEF (Bosch) alternator wiring problem

Thanks windysurfer for the info on the green wire ;)

I used colinthefox walkthrough guide to help fit the engine but it just says to join the alternator wires up which I have done. I cant understand why the engine doesn't stop when the ignition is turned off.

AEF (Bosch) alternator wiring problem

Ive just swapped my old CS 1.6 diesel motor with a 1.9 AEF engine from a Polo. It starts and runs just fine (yipee!). BUT i have a head scratching problem with the alternator. Its the one from the polo (a bosch 90). On the old alternator as fitted to the CS engine it had 2 red wires ( I know these g...
