Will a Solex 34 PICT 3 fit?

My van currently has a Solex 34 PICT 4 carb fitted to it. Due to its problems I am trying to find a replacement at the moment. Does anybody know if the Solex 34 PICT 3 carb will fit? And if so what is the difference?

Thanks

Carb advice please! Which ones will fit?

Hi guys, I broke down earlier in the van earlier (about 5 times)! I have had problems with the Solex Pict 34-4 carb which is fitted to my 1600CT engine. It has been tuned by the Vw specialist and ran ok for a bit, but then wouldnt idle. Now, when I drive the van, it goes for a few miles, splutters a...

Thanks Rattybird, yeah what you said....thats pretty much it, although only left about 2 wks between coats, and it hasn't been finished with any t-cut or anything yet. Im etheir going to use Autoglym bodyshop finishing compound or meguiars ultimate compound (I have both)

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

15% is about right but as you've no doubt discovered, its not an exact science. You just get a feel for it. 2.5ltrs will certainly do the body (just) but I ordered 2.5ltr x 2 to have enough for roof (which I still haven't decided on yet). Yes you can paint hightops with it. Rustoleum can be painted...

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

I did 4 coats of paint all over flatting down with 600 grit between coats then 1000 grit before the final coat. When I started I thinned the paint too much. At a guess I'd say on the last coat I used about 15% White spirit

Cheers

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

I used about 3l for the van body and about 0.5l for the roof

Re: Paint Your Wagon - with a roller!

When I actually get the van back from the garage I need to sand down ready for the second coat. After reading through the thread I was under the impression that it just needed to flattened back by taking the top off any orange peel and not perfectly smooth again :( I realise I´d get a better finish...
