Re: AAZ blue smoke whilst accelerating
Skylist - how did you get on? Replaced the turbo which solved the problem. The oil seals had gone completely. The van is a lot quicker now, loads of torque low down. I discovered a blow between the exhaust manifold flange and the turbo when I removed the old turbo which would explain the lack of oo...

AAZ blue smoke whilst accelerating
Hi, Our Syncro was unused for three weeks whilst we were on holiday. When when we got back we took the van for a spin. On starting up the engine there was a strange cough, then all seemed well. A few minutes later whilst accelerating up hill I noticed that the van was producing large clouds of blue ...

Re: New diesel pump in an AAZ but it drives like a 1600cc T2
Problem semi solved. The timing was set initially at 0.6mm, standard for an AAZ I believe is 0.8. The garage have consulted a 'manual' (what a novel idea) and have now set the timing to 0.9mm. The engine behaves much more like it used to. Still not quite the same so maybe there has been a boost pin ...

New diesel pump in an AAZ but it drives like a 1600cc T2
It is summer which means our T25 has broken down somewhere inconvenient. It has just had a new diesel pump fitted to the AAZ engine by a main dealer in southern Sweden. The missus got the car back (I am back home in Norway back at work) and the dealer said that they were not sure what the correct pu...

Re: Rear CV replacement
Not wishing to tempt fate, but it looks like the new CV joints and wheel bearings have solved not just the unpleasant rattle but a host of other problems. There used to be an obvious resonance when climbing gently in 2nd gear which has gone. The van itself seems a lot quieter, a droning sound that I...

Re: Rear CV replacement
Nearly there. Two bolts (outer CV joint) and one big driveshaft nut to tighten up. Tomorrow is another day.

Thanks to all who have given advice and support so far.

Re: Gearbox to CV joint mounting little rubber/metal seal
fit a new one :run You can't even get driveshaft nuts for T3s here in Norway. I had to order the CV joint plates and lock washers from JK in the UK. Is there no way to safely reuse it? Put it in place and give the middle a tap to flatten the metal? E D I T: need the van on the road for next week so...

Gearbox to CV joint mounting little rubber/metal seal
I noticed that what looks like a small metal backed rubber seal (blue rubber) has fallen out of the mounting where the CV joint bolts onto. It looks a little like the top of a tin can, with a rim and a small hole in the middle. It seems to push fit back into the centre of the output shaft/flange on ...

Hmm... I tried to post som pics from Picasa web albums, but only get an error message about "being unable to determine size". I've never had problems with posting images like this before. Are there any issues related to Picasa Web albums? The pictures are on the norwegian thread, on page ...

Re: Rear CV replacement
The job is coming along, the driveshafts are back together waiting to go back on the van. As it is only -5'c out there at the moment, snowing gently as it does at this time of year, I have been working on the wheel bearings tonight. http://mistymornings.net/images/misc/Photo0503.jpg The inner ball b...
