Re: T3 with AAZ engine
Thanks syncroandy. I don't think the CT will be a problem. The FFVE certificate probably will be though. The other course is to go for a regular registration which will involve a 350€ gas inspection fee with Qualigaz and probably a visit and inspection with DREAL - I don't know what that would cost ...

T3 with AAZ engine
I have a 1990 T3 Westfalia which had the original JX engine changed for an AAZ by the previous owner. So far so good (if you live in the UK!). We moved to France a few years ago and I need to register the van here. The good point is that it is L.H. drive, the not so good point is the non original e...

Oldie,
Tomorrow:
Fill: Oil, antifreeze, water, power steering fluid and prime the fuel system.
Then see if it starts and deal with any more presenting problems...

Re: Help Please - Alternator issue
Update, The local garage recommended an auto electrician in Turriff (about 20 miles away) I popped over to see him late Tuesday afternoon and he said he would do some research. He got back to me yesterday and said he had found what seemed to be the correct alternator with the pulley protruding furth...

Re: AAZ with 'V' pulleys
Jas,
What alternator do you use?
I am having problems sourcing a suitable replacement alternator with 'V' pulley.
The previous owner replaced the JX engine with an AAZ, maybe he changed it over to 'V' pulley?

AAZ with 'V' pulleys
just wondered how common the AAZ engine is with 'V' pulley on engine and ancillary equipment.
Searches on the WEB and info from the local VW dealer all seem to return info on the flat belt system (Serpentine?)
Would like to hear what other folk know.

Re: Help Please - Alternator issue
Oldie, No room for adjustment :( If I had a decent workshop I would consider fitting another pulley (secured by screws) on the front of the existing one (which is alloy), but alas no facilities. I will have to hope that the auto electrician can come up with something... Thanks for your support Andy

Re: Help Please - Alternator issue
Oldie, The pulley needs to be further out by about half an inch, so turning it around wouldn't help. I don't have any spare bits or welding gear to hand. My workshop is now packed up in the back of the Luton van for transportation to France! I am now awaiting a call from the auto electrician in Turr...

Re: Help Please - Alternator issue
Oldie, I got an alternator specified for the AAZ engine as fitted in the VW Golf. It seems logical that a replacement alternator for an AAZ engine should fit without any hassle One for a JX wouldn't fit (I ordered one by mistake and found that out!) What I am confused about is flat belt/v belt setup...

Help Please - Alternator issue
Hopefully some kind soul or souls can help me... I have a T25 with AAZ 1.9TD engine fitted (by previous owner) from VW Golf Engine, water pump, power steering pump and alternator pulleys are all 'V' Belt. I needed a new alternator and could only source it from GSF (90Amp -903VG0160) Having come to f...

Re: Bleeding brakes!
Hi, Checked all connections. No sign of fluid leaks anywhere. I have given up with it. The garage down the road with all their years of experience can have the problem and fix it! I have run out of time. Moving to France at the end of the month, and still to more runs to France with stuff in the LDV...

Re: Bleeding brakes!
Good fit on the bleed nipple. Latest update: Brakes will pump up hard but then go soft. Peddle doesn't go right to the floor. I reckon the brakes are good enough for me to drive it to the garage for the MOT and they can fix the brakes. I have no other solution, I can't think of anything else to do. ...

Bleeding brakes!
I have fitted all new brakes, master cylinder slave cylinders, calipers and all new brake pipe through out. On attempting to bleed the brakes (with Draper brake bleeding kit with one way valve) starting at the rear right (as per Haynes manual). All I get is a continuous (never ending?) flow of air b...

Re: Gearbox casting corrosion!
Oldie,
That would be great!
I have 'fixed' the problem in the short term but would prefer a good solid casting.
Please PM me cost etc.
Thanks
