240 mile success.... but.. a little noisy.

Hi there, Just returned from the New Forest (rain) without too much trouble, apart from a slight leak from where the exhaust meets the silencer... the gasket that was there has perished slighty and left about a two inch long gap... to take the two parts apart and replace the gasket will involve all ...

The feed that is doing the damage is a 16A one, 5th from the right as you look at the box in the glove box. The one manual I have gives me a choice of two 16A - No. 9 - Emergency Light. Radio. No. 10 - Windscreen wiper/washer, Blower. I have a worry that the fella before me has wired up all sorts of...

Thanks for the reply Tony... and you were spot on - I've disconnected the stereo and the meter still reads between 30ma and 40ma. I'd like to reduce the drain to a minimum - what's 'normal' ? I'll keep looking... removing fuses etc. the lad who had it before me installed some sort of alarm, although...

Battery Discharge Time Sweepstake...

Hi there, My Type 25 has had battery trouble for a while now, so I've got a brand spanking new battery (63AH) from GSF for her. A couple of questions - I've a 0.04A drain on this new battery, is this excessive ? The only thing that could be drawing it is the backup for the stereo. Considering this d...

Thanks for the response Dave... I'm inching closer - The 'new' battery drops to about 3.5v when I switch the side lights on... that's not good I suspect. The older battery drops to around 10v when I switch the side lights on, and drops to 3.5v ish if I turn the key to the coil position. I'm guessing...

Thanks.. I'd already tried the battery earth strap, took it off... seemed in pretty good nick (plenty of coppereze around it)... cleaned it anyway, still no difference. This is the second battery I've tried (replaced around 4 months ago... Could my dead leisure battery have killed the 'new' main bat...

Plenty of volts... but no power.

This is the follow up post to a few months ago... I've had chance to try a few things since then. I've had starting problems for a while, so I whipped the starter battery off, gave it a good charge (now sits at 14+ v). Put it back in the van, still not a hint of starting.. I know we're all thinking ...

Well... sort of exciting. Even though the main battery has been disconnected for a week the leisure battery had drained... So I guess that implies that it's not a split charger ? Also using a test lamp I noticed the stereo was putting a really slight (faint glow) drain on the main battery - checked ...

Just read the wiki on Split charging... nice and simple. I'm going to have a look tonight and see if I can see the relay (or lack of one) between the batterys. So, if it was a split charge set up there should have been no way that the leisure should have died. More fun tonight I guess with a volt me...

Thanks for the responses... and apologies for my ignorance. I believe I have a split charge system - in that having gone out for about 40mins after getting the problem both batterys seemed fine. If I've two batteries doesn't that mean it's split charged ? I'll check the earth strap tonight thanks Jo...

From what I've read on this forum it's best not to jump the engine off the leisure - Bad news. But my original question is that the leisure seemed drained as well - thanks for the response lhd - It's not a Westie (it's an Autosleeper) but I didn't check any of the other leisure electrics (such as wa...

Leisure AND Main Battery drained - Exciting update

Hi there... just thought I'd treat the van to a run out but it lazily turned over a few times without starting so I thought I'd jump her off the car... The strange thing was that as I went to get the jump leads out of the van I noticed that the internal lights weren't working either. If I have a dra...

Auto-sleeper roofrack bolts ?

Hi there, I have an '84 Auto-sleeper conversion. Above the cab are four bolts which I presume are for a roofrack. Are these roofracks still available ? The bloke I bought it off mentioned that they whistle (neat trick) so that's why people remove them... It'd be useful and might look a bit more plea...
