have now sorted the problem.............mixture of the battery dishcharging and the contact block in the gear lever not making. new contact block and battery recharged sorted the problem. many thanks for the advice.

Have now got reversing lights working it was the switch, its working temp, as the contacts need to be cleaned.

Many thanks 1664, Have checked the back of the clock. The connection had come off or loose, and is now working. The problem now is with the reversing lights, have checked fuse(thats ok), and new bulbs have been fitted, and still dont work, believe it could be the switch, but have no idea where it is...
