Re: The good old engine debate....

then, IMHO you should go with the AGG/ADY option.

once installed it's easy to service, work on etc..  you already have all the fitting kit as you're starting from a diesel.

Re: The good old engine debate....

Define the brief.

What do you want to achieve?  What's the most important factor (fuel economy/speed/torque/budget)?

Unless you can clearly state the problem then you can't find the correct solution..

Re: adding a turbo to aef conversion?

your issue is going to be the pump providing extra fuel on boost.  AEF's have the lucas pump, with the 1Y variant (bosch pump) I would simply up the fuelling to provide more over the rev range, or source a JX pump and Injectors / AAZ pump and injectors.

Re: Hot Start Issues for T25 1.6TD

ahhh, the old crank bolt failure.... Don't worry, most of have been there!  VW introduced a "fix" for the sub standard bolt, but it is still a one time use I think.   for ease look for a 1Y (1.9 non turbo) engine to swap in.  I usually have a few of these for sale, but at the moment I have nothing r...

Tom, fill in your rough location in your signature, there's loads of us on here that are au-fait with the joys of an IDI engine.

Chap, even if I do know him, you know yourself that pipe isn't right. One dubious post on one forum doesn't make it true..

Browse this one and garner the general consensus about Brickwerks.

I do however know my way round a 1Y (and turbo'd 1Y, AAZ, KY, AEF etc.. etc...)
