Re: Clock AND temp gauge not working. Known working panel
Thanks for your help Mr M.L.C and Mr Ghost. So, I swapped the PCB over (incl clock/temp/fuel unit) and tested it with a jump at the relay panel. Put in a 43 relay. Then tested at the rear by shorting the sender which moved the temp gauge. Tested another sender and that worked so installed in the van...

Re: Clock AND temp gauge not working. Known working panel
Cheers for that, I will continue my investigations.
One other thing, long story as to why, but is it possible carefully to exchange just just the PCB on the back of the instrument panel, basically so I can keep the original panel I have and thus keep the mileage correct?

Re: Clock AND temp gauge not working. Known working panel
As Kevtherev said in another post I shorted out temp sender to earth and with ignition on the temp gauge moved all the way to the right. With 12v at ignition, level sender and temp sender & a good earth I guess there should be a No43 switch in the empty space!?! Am I right? http://i626.photobuck...

I can already tell the smell may well linger :-S
A chap I spoke to on the phone regarding a quote yesterday mentioned about salvage after an insurance write off. Interesting idea.

Re: Advice on Restoration / Respray / Fit Out
300CE - Just guessing but I would say a ruptured fuel line spraying over something electrical (alternator?) as I had not long started up and the fire took seconds to develop. mm - It is a mess in there. Yeh the lid is metal and amazingly it's top powder coat is only a bit yellowed with heat, conside...

Re: Advice on Restoration / Respray / Fit Out
Well that may have put an end to any restoration. Had an engine fire last night and it's looking pretty rubbish in the engine bay now. The engine cover however is amazing and saved the rest of the van. All down to insurers now.

Advice on Restoration / Respray / Fit Out
Hi, Firstly I'm sorry if this post has been covered many times before in some way or another! Lucy our 1987 1.9 Petrol van is in need of some fairly extensive TLC. The hope WAS for us to do plenty of the work ourselves but time!!!! The least it will require a good repair of areas of rust (windscreen...
