This is one great video other than plastic welding it should be possible to fibreglass the two together on the inside fill the outer with filler then cover with a suitable material.

They could be MERC or another after-market set that you could buy in the 80's my mate had a set on his turbo beetle bodied bug.

We have just had Granada /Scorpio electric leather seats fitted takes a bit of work but well worth it & for £10 each an even better bargain.
