Re: Started on the seam rash
So, questions. From what I've read, I understand that I could leave the treated seams as they are now without having to prime or paint over in a hurry? When I do come to paint, while I'm gonna be using the original Alpine White ina spray can, I'm assuming I can follow the general guidelines for CovK...

Re: Started on the seam rash
Also had a problem on the seam behind the drivers door, I took off the side plank (thanks to Titus a Duxass for info on how to do it) to see if this was hiding a lot of nasties but thankfully it wasn't too bad. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/q581/rhm99/Campervan%20seam%20rash/P1020413.jpg One o...

Re: Started on the seam rash
Ok, think I've got it, this is the rear section drivers side (lhd of course). This didn't show until I took the rear bumper off. http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/q581/rhm99/Campervan%20seam%20rash/P1020411.jpg http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/q581/rhm99/Campervan%20seam%20rash/P1020410.jpg The...

Started on the seam rash
Greatly inspired by a number of superb recent threads on here I've already fettled my gearchange (oo'er missus) and now its time to have a look at the rash (ooh matron). Sorry is it just me or is anyone else affected by the multitude of carry on films that've been on the box lately? Anyhow, got myse...

Re: removing side planks
Thanks Titus, side plank now off and Im actually quite relieved that the rot is no where near as I'd feared it might be. Having read a number of body work threads on here I fully appreciate that what is showing as a rash is usually the tip of the iceberg as to what may be hidden underneath but for n...

removing side planks
Hi Guys, I have a westy atlantic with side planks matching the deep bumpers. Anyone know how the side planks are fitted on? I've started treating some areas of seam rash and need to take the offside side plank off to see just how far the rash goes down (and accross most likely).

Re: 15" steel spare
Cheers for the relpies Guys, I currently have bolts on the front and studs/nuts on the back with the alloys. Need to change the front to studs at some point so I can have all wheels secured with my set of locking nuts. Currently just the back 2 are secure. I also appear to have a full set of nuts/n ...

Re: high oil use - lowish mpg
Hi Peeps, thought it high time to update this post. I have now changed to a 1Y, kept it n/a but could turbo again down the line if I want to. Its a late 94 block from a Seat Ibiza - has the swirl pots like an AAZ. For the time being though I'm very happy with the 1Y as it is. Had a tour of the Cotsw...

Do you need to take out the wardrobe to do engine swap
HI Guys These are probably really thick questions so I apologise in advance, just a point raised by my garage ready to do my 1Y transplant. 1. Do you need to take out the rear wardrobe in order to get access to do the engine swap? 2. How do you best gain access to the 'snorkel' to get the cold airfl...

Re: 1y conversion
Hi Kit, looking for exactly the same information myself so will be watching your post with interest. Ive just secured a 1Y from a Seat Ibiza off ebay, changing up from a very smokey JX. What engine are you converting from? Are you intending to leave it n/a or turbo it? If n/a, are you looking to use...

Re: 2011 ferry discounts ??
Hi Guys, Im not gassed up so for my money Id go eurotunnel every time. Bit of a numpty last year tho cos I booked direct and paid a big premium of about £250 return for late July early Aug. School holidays eh, what a ripoff. Used ferrysavers.com this year, and got the return costs down to £169, comp...

Re: Jx to 1Y transpalnt?
I will no doubt be haviing this to do soon, cutting the chassis is not a problem and it can be done in a way that is strong and neat, yes easy benough to modify the manifold or fab a new one but by doing the chassis you are free to fit std parts mike Hi Mike/guys, one of my new years resolutions is...

Jx to 1Y transpalnt?
Hi folks, looking for your thoughts on the above. Any one done this who can give a cmparison as to relative economy, driveability between the two? Im essentially looking for more torque with a view to getting up more hills without dropping down to a crawl. I was happy with the JX overall but due to ...
