Re: Can anybody explain how a fuel pump relay works?
Hi Herb. Thanks for the info but with a bit of patience and a visit to Maplin I made a new dual relay myself and it cured the problem! Seems that the old one had come loose in its metal housing and caused me quite a few problems

Can anybody explain how a fuel pump relay works?
Hi everybody Well I am really stuck on this one - after trying to sort out why my van wouldn't ignite, I have finally managed to get it to strike up but then it suddenly dies...so I'm getting there. It seems to be the fuel pump relay, it's like a dual relay with 11 terminals on it. I can't get one a...

Re: Could fuel pump be the culprit?
Well now I know that it isn't the fuel pump - tested that via a separate 12v supply and it works well. However, there is no supply to the pump when the engine is turned over. There is a sort of a 'twin relay' in the engine compartment that the pump wire goes to, it practically fell apart when i touc...

Could fuel pump be the culprit?
Hi everyone I have a LHD swedish 2l manual fuel injection Aircooled T25 (one of the very first, I believe the engine is one that is found in Bays, a CV). Drove to Cromer last night. When i struck the engine up to come home, she was turning over but no ignition whatsoever! When the breakdown man came...

Re: Lost 1st gear
Hi. My van is a 1980 Swedish import 2l CV injection LHD. Had a look on the wiki and right at the bottom of the 'gearchange issues' page someone has put a bit on the 10mm nut under the gear selector coming loose on his LHD, subsequently he lost 1st & reverse gear. So will have a look at that late...

Lost 1st gear
Help! I was just coming home tonight and for some reason I lost 1st gear. No warning and no grinding but for some reason it feels like it's going to go into 1st but goes into 3rd!
Any ideas?

Underneath - what's the best thing to use?
Hi people Well, the 1st of May sees me bringing out the old Westy from her long hibernation in the container for a 'glorious' spring & summer, and as I'm starting to get into some maintenance, have noticed that the whole of the underside could do with a protective recoat of something. But that's...

Re: Sponge brakes
No, adjusting the brakes. Basically, all Ive done is change the shoes. I loosened the handbrake equaliser thing up, changed the cables and re tightened the equaliser finger tight. Should I leave the handbrake cables completely slack until I've set up the footbrake part first?

Sponge brakes
Hi people...Well I'm back on here(again) with another niggling issue.. Just changed my back brake shoes and also the secondary handbrake cables, have played with them like mad trying to get them set as close to the inside of the drum without binding. Only now when I use the brakes there is no pressu...

Rear brake shoes - which ones?
Hi people Well I've been under the van today changing the secondary handbrake cables and have noticed that the rear brake shoes are proper low! Just been looking on Just Kampers and there only seems to be one size. Is there only one general size? Just that my van is a LHD 1.9i Aircooled and I don't ...

Re: So where can I get a shift bracket
Why you need a new one? Did the ball fall out of the cup then in the end? The teeth are all completely worn, the sprocket on the gearbox seems fine though. It was practically spinning round and so I guess that when I put it into 2nd, it came completely away from the ball. Thanks Aiden, will PM you...
