Re: Air leak, carbs or dizzy problems

Think i'm getting somewhere! Gone back to defaults, 2.5 turns out on mixtures, 90 degree turn out on throttle stops from seating - from this i can hear the advance kicking in on tick over. Adjusted the throttle stops back bit by bit, till they are virtually free, tick over down and its timing close ...

Re: Air leak, carbs or dizzy problems

Had a lot of progress, rebuilt the carbs, they are back on and setting up at the moment. Couple of quick questions: Whats the best way to time it - with vac disconnected at revs to 25-28 BTDC, or with hoses on to 4-5 ATDC, keep reading conflicting ways to do it? Also, if i pull the retard at tick ov...

Re: Solex carb - what is this part / how should it work?

Thanks bigherb Just put the shut one in v hot water and its still shut (almost burnt my lips so its above 25º), although its only been around 20º or so here and the other one is open? Maybe they are both shot? Would it cause any issues either way? I'll speak to Gower & lee tomorrow to see if the...

Hi, Got both my solex 32-34 PDSIT carbs rebuilt and fixed a few small issues but what is this part and what does it do? There is one on each carb at the rear and after cleaning a can blow through one with ease, but the other is air tight (the one on the main carb)... which one is correct, assuming t...

Re: Clutch won't disengage fully

Had a similar issue on my (older) bus recently, turned out to be a broken / worn clutch operating shaft, see https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=153536" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; basically it was engaging on an angle and wearing the clutch fingers, whi...

Re: Air leak, carbs or dizzy problems

Bit of progress... sprayed some throttle cleaner into the carbs and tried revving the engine high and blocking the air intakes off and i have got an idle back, its a little slow but seams much happier. I have read and interesting post that was on another carb thread on 80-90 http://itinerant-air-coo...

Making a bit of a screeching noise from the right hand side too, not sure how clear you can hear it, you can hear it clearer from the front... Running (Dies if i let go of throt...
