coolant levels,

Have been running our rebuilt 2.1  engine for some time with over 2000 KM on the clock so its well run in, so this summer took it to the Pyrenees and had a great time except the weather was extremely hot for Sep/Oct but cooled off now. Generally the temp guage needle rests with the bottom edge of th...

Re: Westfalia pop top

There’s not really much wriggle room, the screw holes have small reinforced areas for the each screw hole Do you know how wide the reinforced areas are for each screw hole in the Westfalia top for the pop up roof and photos or cutaway diags would be good. I take it that you have done this before fo...

Westfalia pop top

We are taking our 1986 Syncro westfalia in to have a new brickworks  pop top fitted by a specialist but he already suggested that some of the screws for the top skirt and some at the bottom edge are so corroded he would prefer to drill fresh holes for new screws so is there a ring or halo of embedde...

Re: Tailgate thermo window from T25 Syncro Joker

So you tried to fit one of Gunzl's and it didn't fit ? Did they reuse the original seal or a replacement and was it genuine or aftermarket ? SyncroPatrick investigated a repair solution, with multiple companies, I don't know how he got on though Hi Aiden hope all is well Yes I think it was a Gunzel...

Tailgate thermo window from T25 Syncro Joker

When restoring our T25 Joker  Syncro T25  1986 we replaced our cracked thermo rear window with a glass replacement. The crack is on the inner skin with a hole in it so I have tried to find someone that can mend it or an accurate OEM  type replacement but the only replacement available (originally fr...

Rear plastic window for Joker Tailgate

We have just got hold of one of the rear plastic double skinned windows that were used on the Joker versions of the T25. Ours is a 1986 T25 Syncro Joker and the rear window on our VW has alas got a crack on the inside skin. Now the new unit looks great in every way (but we haven't fitted it yet) how...

T25 Security Locks

We have been looking at upgrading the extra security for our T25 Syncro Van and have been looking at locks that you can self install. Ford Transit have a good system with metal plates for the sliding door that mate up and can be locked from the outside with a padlock as the locking systems available...

The latest reply about a valuation from my insurers after a delay of about a week. concerning our restored 1986 VW Westfalia Joker 2.1 LHD with Diff locks back and front £15,000 spent in the last 2 years on welding and a new paint job, new windscreen, internal components eg sink parts batteries Inst...

Re: engine number

Aidens suggestion of the engine number seems about right as we know it was rebuilt in 1999. Regarding insurance I went to classic line and was quoted £300-£400 for a year insurance agreed value £25,000 restricted to 5000 miles which is pretty useless for travel. Also a valuation by Christian Gauter ...

engine number

I wanted the engine number on our LHD 1986 Syncro Joker 2.1 DJ for insurance purposes. Now normally its a 6 figure number starting in our case with DJ as its this engine and its usually located on the base casting of the oil cooling tower eg DJ 035648. However on ours it has only a VW logo stamp wit...

Re: Time-Sert thread length for T25 syncro head

Thanks Aiden I was hoping 15mm would be ok as it seems to be most common Gary is on the home stretch with the VW restoration (1 and a half years) and its been painted in Trafalgar blue and looks great but could not get a decent rear original double glazed Joker rear tailgate window. Brickworks did t...
