Re: Temperature guage or Sensor not working
Suggest taking that advice off the wiki. I tested the gauge using that method, when turning ignition on I heard sizzling bacon noise so switched off ignition and the bridging wire was very hot! Gauge didn't move. Do not try this at home kids!! https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Coolant_and_Heating_Instrum...

Re: Temperature gauge not working
I so needed to find this thread. Was bugging me as to why I had a red sensor too. The one at the back is fiddly to get to.

Temperature guage or Sensor not working
I know this is a really common problem but I have checked the dash and connections. Stripped dash and checked all connections. Would appear that the sensor might be faulty. Cheap enough to quickly replace and check. However...... I seem to have a RED sensor fitted. All the ones on the web seem to be...

Reconditioning a water tank
My Autosleeper Trident needed a refresh due to perished hose on the fillup and a broken plastic tap on the tank. Has anyone freshened up theirs or replaced parts? The water inlet pipe I have sourced as 28mm grey pipe usually classed as waste outlet by websites and the local camping store. Also the r...

Re: 2.0 Aircooled 1983
I originally bought the bus without them connected. In the winter I connected them with some flexi air duct to test . Fumes did come through to the cab through the vents so I disconnected them. Now the MOT is due im wondering what the best thing to do is. Ok so by that I would assume that you have ...

Re: 2.0 Aircooled 1983
If I remove the outer casings, the internals of the exchangers will be exposed. Would this still be ok for the MOT ? That would be fine. Its quite common to do, but if you have leaking pipes and exhaust fumes coming out of the 'J-tubes' then you may fail the MOT. Did you have fumes coming into the ...

Re: 2.0 Aircooled 1983
just remove outer casings and heat sinks of your original heat exchangers very easy to do and you end up with j tubes , and all it will cost you is your time , and if the outer caings are not there it cant fail mot on a defective exhaust .....Providing they are not knackered & leaking, which I ...

Re: hydrocarbons excessive fail
Thanks Paul66beetle, It makes sense and very helpful. I'll aim to bring the ratio of Gaffer tape Vs engine down.. You can buy the replacement T pieces and elbows, but I have found that they don't fit that snugly. Probably as they are aftermarket as opposed to OEM http://www.justkampers.com/021-129-...

Re: hydrocarbons excessive fail
Should I be concerned about the right carb judging by the photos? Cheers. I don't think so. I think its possibly a case of cause and affect. I think if you manage to seal all the air leaks and getting it sucking as it should and tuned then it might look better. Its logical to fix the air leaks firs...

Re: hydrocarbons excessive fail
I think the main cause of high HC and lean running is an air leak. Check the carbs and associated pipes for air leaks especially the balance pipe and associated braided hoses. Do not forget that the braided hoses have rubber underneath and the braiding might look ok but might be leaking like a sieve...

Re: hydrocarbons excessive fail
also be aware that if the choke pull down units have failed you will be drawing in air, pierburg has one for the choke and one for the second barrel, if you suck on a piece of tube connected to either and put your tongue on the end to block it and it returns to its rest possition then the diaphram ...
