Re: Pierburg 2E Carburettor

that doesn't look like a T25 2E3 to me, is that your carb ? What is the VW part number stamped on it, and or the Pierburg part number ?
VW number should be 025 129 015, possibly with a letter after the 015

Re: Oil leak... Where to start?

immediately above that plate is the mating face of the engine and gearbox and there is a little cut out in the casting of the engine so that oil can get out if the crank seal or other leak behind the flywheel occurs so that the clutch plate doesn't get contaminated by oil, difficult to see clearly w...

Re: Oil leak... Where to start?

check the clutch slave cylinder first
clean off the oil and then see where it reappears
it could be the crank seal behind the flywheel or one of the engine core plugs behind the flywheel
so fingers crossed it's the clutch slave  :D

Re: What is the trick with 3x2s supporting transission?

pull the box out with the engine it's easier imho, much easier to mate the two before refitting, less chance of damaging the spigot bearing end of the input shaft, ideally with the transmission retainer plate that is on the wiki to safely keep the transmission on the trolley jack

Re: MV downgrade to DG (running a 1.9 with Digifant)

oil pressure isn't part of engine management, it's just to talk to the dash dynamic oil pressure system, as Steve says can be defeated if the block hasn't got the second tapping to the oilway. If you are fitting the full later plumbing you'll have to change the oil filter fitting to the long one to ...

afaik the spring is the same as the later latch so get a used late one and canibalise it, I checked my stash last night but I don't have one spare anymore, Mick should have one though

Re: MV downgrade to DG (running a 1.9 with Digifant)

I don't know from having done it, but I reckon the Digifant will cope just fine on the DG, because it is a bit more adaptive than DigiJet with the feedback from the Lambda and the ability of the ECU to control both fuelling and timing; you might just have to play around with the initial timing a lit...

Re: Diesel oil filler leak, plastic to metal pipe, JX engine

There is no seal, the plastic part is an interference fit on the metal part if it is loose it will leak, they fail over time, rough handling, heat, vibtation etc.. the end of the metal part  is flared so in production there must be some magic on getting the plastic part on You could try thoroughly d...
