Re: Rear hub nut cracker tool

Check the spacer tube slides easily on the shaft, they can deform, Brickies sell them.

Re: AAZ (1.9td) engine with JX (1.6) pump

Golf gti is petrol, different system altogether. P.S. if the LDA is on top of pump it's an AAZ, JX is to the rear. Pic would be handy.

Re: AAZ (1.9td) engine with JX (1.6) pump

I doubt a flexy would cope with the pressure, Brickwerks stock the JX ones, even better fit the proper AAZ pump, you're losing a fair bit of power using the JX pump.

Re: Adding PAS

WHS ^^^ I've heard that if you use the non pas knuckle (hole further forward) the steering is too light and 'twitchy'
Funnily enough the 14" Syncro uses the same part for both

Bracket and pump look the same as JX ? There's info on the Samba I googled when fitting mine (JX) biggest problem I had was finding the right pulleys.

Also handy to locate a bolt in the flywheel to stop it turning when undoing the crank pulley bolt.

Re: Water in doka

The c pillar grille is a throwback to Aircooled models to channel air through the under bed box section to the engine bay, my diesel air intake isn't connected to this (if your's is the rear of the box section isn't blanked off so will still draw air) I,m convinced unless proved otherwise that rain ...

Re: Water in doka

Yep, bore a hole with a cone cutter and leave both sides open should help it dry out, looks a bit scabby in there, maybe have a dig around with a screwdriver to check the integrity of the bottom of the pillar?

Re: Water in doka

There's no water in my locker Tim but I have a Nato canopy fitted, the o/s was facing west so I reckon with the storms we've had the rain entered the c pillar grille. I've left the grommet out at the bottom of the pillar and it's drying out. I will refit the grommet when offroading to keep the crud ...

Water in doka

My doka has been standing outside for some time awaiting parts, I opened the rear passenger door and noticed water on the floor, lifted the rubber mat and there was a good 1/2" of water! The sliding windows weren't leaking so I guessed it was coming from the C pillar through the vent. Popped ou...
